This is after running distilled+pt Nuke+ some color additive... that might have been the cause. My friend Aspire just runs bottled water, but he can because he uses Norprene :P No sunlight = very little, if any growth

MCT-5 gives some pretty terrible temps, I used it in my first system and I was less than satisfied. that said how the heck do you get that many leaks to have those issues?

Looks like additive issues.

My distilled + PT Nuke has been in my loop for 13 months (I know...) and it's perfectly clear. :shrug:

drinking water contains minerals..

minerals can lead to growth...

Distilled has no minerals... which is why we recomend it...


Any additive you add to distilled will decrease its cooling efficency, thats why most people adopt using just it.

We use silver now for anti microbs, and it works good...

Well if it makes you guys feel any better about the possibility of algae, I have had bacteria grow in two of my liquid loops (dads and brothers computer) and your entire loop could be PT-Nuke and it wouldn't stop that foul smelling stuff. I have no idea how it got in there, my brothers case was blacked out with no lights and no windwos so it was definitely not algae for him.

distilled water + antifreeze FTW!
I used all sorts of coolant, but distilled+antifreeze works best for me.

DI+pt nuke.

antifreeze is HIGHLY toxic (ethyl glycol). if you use propylene glycol you are ok.

THAT SHOULD BE A STICKY!!!! Tons of people here water-cool and should know they risk their pets' lives with ethelyn Glycol (I am the king of leaks so I speak from experience). This is why I have used Fluid XP in some builds. PT nuke contains copper sulfate which is only slightly toxic and will not likely kill your pets (same stuff used in fish tanks). The problem with Ethelyn Glycol is that it is sweet and animals and kids love the taste.

DI water = De-Ionized. Not sure the effect it would have in cooling, but I wasnt aware you could just buy it in the stores?
