Does anyone know if the other two volt mods used on the 9800 Pro would be of any benefit? Herefishy is about to send my video card cooler back and I want to be ready. Thanks!
Thanks Ron,
the Pictures are very clear, I'll to the mod now:D
545/449 is not enough..................only 8568

On the XT, are the 2 "center" pins of the power connector the ground??? Where would be the best ground spot? I just hate soldering to those da*n small resistors!! How do you use a DMM to check for ground :D

Yes, I have done that, it's work perfektly.Quote:

Now going to do the Mem-voltmod;)
Congrats Tom!!!!
Very nice '03!

vmods done :) tankyou guys :)
i only have one 10k pot and one 5k pot, i use the 5k to mems and at 5k i give +-2.9v but i lost some mhz on them compared to default voltage :S
with stock cooling i got 410mhz on mems and with my custom r404a cooler cooling the gpu i can push the mems to 440 default voltage, at 2.9v only 400mhz :S
Hery thanks guy's "BMG, runmc, charlie" I finally went and moded my card. before mod 535/427 maybe 540/430 with MCW50-T and a 172w pelt@24v
Post back later how results turned out.
Spechial thanks to charlie as you guid was the easiest to make out
Hey Guys,
BMG your knowledge is amazing.
And RunMc your skills are very good and you helping people out is awesome.
Well guys what you see in my Sig will be my Rig in 2 weeks Right now it is the Same but with a 9800 pro not XT and It is all watercooled :)
Now for the good stuff my soldering skills are good since I solder points similar to these on xboxes :D I just need to make sure on the points before I get to work :) Here I edited RunMc outstanding picture a labeled it what each on was to MY knowledge. If you can please clarify this for my Runmc I will be in debt with you.

Here I attach another picture to make sure I have the Vgpu points correct

Thanks Alot Guys
and Last but not least From the Experts what do you guys think I will get my XT clocked to if I use a 80w Pelt
and what if I use an 172w pelt?
Rough estimate guys :toast:
I would ground my multimeter to the case, somewhere out of the way, if it were me.:D
Thanks RunQuote:

Is that advie to have 1 less solder point to worry about?
I am gonna have my fellow marine do it which can work on microsoopic soldering. He is litterally gonna solder under a special microscope they use to solder multimillion dollar flight equipment.
So if I am 100% sure the solder points are gonna be good I was thinking to ground the VR for the DDR Use the opposite side of the little resistor I think it is to read your DDR voltage like BMG did then to ground the Core use the metal screw that is almost in the back of the case the one BMG pointed out.
It sound good to you?
You could do it like your saying and then run the ground to the molex and plug your multimeter ground into the molex.
Like you mentioned, I don't like soldering to the card anymore than I have too. You'll just have two more wires to snag and pull off. IMHO - the less wires connected to the card the better. Each to his own.
Let us know how your card turns out. Post some pics and results.:D
I am gonna run the read point and the ground to the molex then connect both pins from the multimeter to the molex. I will definelty post pictures.
Right now it is doing 465/425 with water cooling room temp and ramsink. no vmod
What are your predictions with a Mach II with 404 modded by herefishy?
Think I can get close to 600 on core? and maybe 450 for memory?
difference will be vmods and mach II with 404
Run you know I planned all my wiring for the vmod from all your pictures :) Thanks
does anyone have clear pics and the good v-mod with instructions ? i am kind a new on this part so i don't want to my hercules9800xt get fryed :P

Modded my Sapphire card today with the help of member Ragnarok - he always does my soldering for me so kudos to him

Eek gadds!!! Is that like a carberator under that vid card or what? How many miles to the gallon does it get? volt mods look nice dude. Hmm you are missing about 5 of them though er campared to mine that is. hehe
right, can i please have the other 5 mods? :D
btw, there's seems to be a few same vreg near each pair of mem chips, care to enlighten us what they are for wise one? :D
if have done the mod also , but i got stucked on my my
it isn't even able to pass 415mhz @ 3.2v , anyone an idea?
greets bio
Help, I am stuck at 1.94v to the GPU any more and the voltage goes up under load and card hard locks.
Any volts over 1.94v to the GPU and it would lock up on a full 3DMARK run and i would need to reboot computer. In fact Vgpu would go "0" volts.
I measured the 5v rail at 5.22 volts loaded and 12v rail at 12.34v under full load.
After testing this is what I found:
Vgpu Idle -- Vgpu Load
1.85v ------ 1.81v
1.87v ------ 1.84v
1.90v ------ 1.88v
1.91v ------ 1.90v
1.92v ------ 1.92v
1.93v ------ 1.96v
1.94v ------ 1.98v
1.95v ------ 2.03v <-- lock up on 3dMARK Drops to "0" volts.
What do you think is causing the voltage to jump under load??
What can I do to stablize the voltage??
By the way this is an excellent, extremly Knowledgeable forum. Thanks.
Can anybody tell me is there vref and vddq mod in 9800xt?
It's pretty clear with vmem and vgpu.
bump.
