In the mean time from a performance point of view it drives just like the DK P45 but the UT has a bigger PWM that should handle a quad getting raped, the layout although a bit tight is better & the board I suppose being 6 layer rather than 4 handles a fair bit more voltage & runs a bit smoother/stronger than the DK P45.

Is there a bench in particular that you would like me to run for you or are you just looking for results in general from other with this board?

Thanks for the detailed response. I see that it already seems to be up to par with other high end P45's. As far as benches it would be nice to see some everest memory benches and of course the usual suspects of 3D benches as you stated you'll be doing.

Would it be to much to ask for some shots of the bios? I've wanted a DFI board for some time now and I'm pretty excited about this one! You are right though. It did just launch so I suspect in the coming days we will see more and more people come out of the woods with their take on this. I just hope this is liked as well as the UT-P35 boards.

BTW, do you know if there is any issues with the current bios and 4870x2 cards? Thanks again.:up:

Its out on the heels of gigabytes new EP45 UD3 series..Which is cheap and also does crazy FSB. What would be the advantages to going with the DFI over the UD3?

Honestly I don't have a good answer for that. The UD3 boards seem to be amazing so far! I've wanted a DFI after hearing about the awesome overclocking and bios of the DFI's. I just wasn't that impressed with the X38/48 results. IMHO if money wasn't an issue I would either pick up this board or the P5Q-deluxe. In no way am I saying the UD3 boards are inferior though. I almost picked one up a couple of weeks ago from the egg.

I guess its gonna take time to tell if the UD3 is gonna be a good deal or not. I've already heard of dead boards and 3 dead Nice CPU's. Gigabyte cant stop putting out bios updates either when needed... That is probably where DFI will win out. Oscar normally keeps up with a new Bios when needed. I bet everyone will jump on the extra copper soon to though. I'll be keeping my eye on this DFI for some Quad clocks.

No trouble at all I got a bit carried away last night with other stuff & totally forgot to take some BIOS Screen shots, I'll do it tonight.

I have a Gecube 4870x2 in it right now & its running sweet.

I couldn't really tell you but as far as I have seen the Giga is a champ board. I would say perhaps the DFI DK P45 was more in its price band though.

The only other thing that I have seen & it caught my eye was the voltages the Giga pump out on auto. I have seen great things from the Giga but every single screen shot has made me cringe at the voltages. I don't know if the Giga would run the same sort of speed/performance on low/mild voltage or not but I can tell you the DFI UT P45 can easily do 600+fsb with 1.24v vtt, 1.4vnb & 1.5v pll (safe) which for me makes the DFI the Rolls Royce choice for me.

Here are a couple of Everest Cache & Memory benches, The first is just something I happened to run last night & the second is where I think I will be able to run daily & complete a loop of Prime.

I got a UD3P last Friday... and so far I'm having favorable first impressions. I'm still working on high fsb overclocks and I've seen some screenshots out there with some high voltages... more time and testing will tell if that is what the board really requires. I liked my LP JR enough that my new UT is scheduled to arrive tomorrow!

He he you sound just as mad as me with buying all those new boards I love it. It would be nice to compare the the Giga keep us posted.

Nothing special it was just PL10 default for 1:1 600/667.

The 2nd shot was PL7.

Yup the UT P45 is sweet imo, the difference between the P35 & P45 in daily use is nothing you will notice so its probably not worth the upgrade unless you are like me & just like new stuff. The advantage is Crossfire with PCI-E 2 & the nb voltage runs way lower than the P35.

I think the UT P45 is a real nice board however its just out & its on its 1st official BIOS & there is still some work to be done. Just quick observations the vcore you need to set in BIOS for example 1.5* set shows 1.43 in SG 1.44 in CPU-Z under load & the droop control thingy doesn't really make much difference. The 333/800 strap divider does not run properly I haven't played for long with it but I'm fairly sure there is a problem with it. I am also sure DFI will be able to pull a bit more bandwidth out of the memory once its matured a bit but thats just my feeling.

I wont have time to try the 333/800 510~525mhz everest run tonight (I'm doing Dracula tonight for Halloween lol) but I'll give it a go tomorrow for you.

It just hit newegg a couple of days ago. I suppose it will take a couple of weeks for more users to pop up.

This board looks nice, maybe I can sell my lt x48 and buy this without paying too much extra:) Looks to be quite decent in terms of FSB (the 600+ numbers posted were on air...?) at least.

Not sure anyone noticed, but the PCB is nearly the exact same as the one used on the LT/UT X48-T2R. Except that DFI used 3 more capacitors on the UT P45 than on the LT X48 (2 near the memory slots and one close to the SB). I guess the memory freaks will love that:p:

My board arrived on Friday and I've just started testing it on an open test bench. The Bios is quite similar to my LP JR except for the VTT/MCH GTL refs. The UT has four individual adjustments for VTT and two individual adjustments for MCH. Whereas the LP JR has just two for VTT and one for MCH.

There appears to be a clearance issue with the Northbridge using my Xigmatek S-1283 with it blowing towards the I/O sheild so I rotated it and I've got it mounted in a top to bottom orientation.

Here is my starting overclock 500x8.5 333/800 divider DDR2-1200 using a 2gb kit of OCZ Reaper PC2-9200. VDroop enabled, Fine Clock Delay: 0-0-1, VTT refs at 63 and MCH refs at 61.

Whoa... define "high end"? Isn't 'highly customizable' the major trait of a high-end motherboard? So customizable, when anything fails due to extreme customization there's always a fall-back way to save it? And since when that becomes a BS?

I, for one, can't see a mediocre implementation such as gigabyte's dual-bios as "high-end", where any simple mis-step may easily result in that dreadful reboot cycle which is never fixable. Don't assume DFI is able make an infallible microcode/bootchip that would never make any fault like that - we've all seen how sloppy they've become lately. In fact, the tried-and-true hotflash method may still be the saving grace when the time comes. Now if they are really getting rid of the BIOS chip I hope they at least elaborate their new fall-back plan when the BIOS gets corrupted. If there's none, it'd just be another indication that they are taking 0 pride in making their "high-end" product.

@ VWS the new style tiny bios chips do come out of there plastic holder just pop the top open & easily lift the chip out.

I eventually got round to doing the 3D runs & it does look good :D
