Very cool Quake. I'll look forward to seeing what you have. Regarding the hunt for the mighty 4GB, I have finally gotten P-95 small fft's to run for about 15 minutes without failing. I stopped P-95 after 15 minutes. Volts were getting very high. I posted in another thread regarding running Q6600's over 1.6 volts. That thread is here. Quick read, but the people achieving 4G on a Q6600 were using over 1.6V like I have found out. Thasp had an interesting post in that thread regarding Q6600's and their durability at high volts. I remember Thasp from the DFI-Street days. He put up a lot of good posts showing some very good clocks.
My settings for my most recent 4G foray were as follows:
1.63 Vcore, V-droop enabled
VTT =1.5 GTL +12 (all)
PLL=1.622V
NB=1.62, GTL -8
SB=1.538
RAM=6-6-6-18, CR=2N, 1:3 divider
Running the RAM at 2N seemed to help a lot. I also changed the cpu clock skew to 200 ps. That seemed to help stability as well. I ought to go back and explore some more.
One thing I really like about this BlackOps board is the overclock recovery. One always recovers right back after a no post with overzealous settings.
:clap::clap: good job dawg !
it's great playing with 65nm chips just keep em cool and stick the volts to em:up:
@HDChopper
lol......thanks! :toast: Being able to boot to 4 was pretty cool, but watching the small fft's finally prime away for a bit was very cool! These 65 nm SLACR GO's seem to really scale with voltage.
Hey Sailindawg,
I just got myself a Blackops which makes it blackops/q6600 combo.
I was wondering if you can be so kind to post clear stable settings for 3.2-3.6 oc if possible, my rig is:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40 GHZ G0
Corsair H50(watercooling)
foxconn blackops x48
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB DDR3 1600MHz
Sapphire VAPOR-X HD 4890 1 GB
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32-BIT
OCZ 600W Stealth XStream - Low Noise
Thanks
plz?
It doesn't work like that ConstanT1ne32
Each overclock is different and needs different settings to be stable. What works for someone else wont work for you.
You need to start from scratch yourself
Having some mixed success atm
can do 415 fsb no probs.
Passes 10 x LinX @ max. memory used.
Passes 3 hours Prime blend test.
Freezes after a couple minutes playing Mount and Blade.
Any ideas?
That was with a x 8 multi for 3.3. drop back to 400 x 8 for 3.2 and game runs fine. Currently testing / tweaking 400 x 9 - 3.6. Can run Vantage, currently priming, but errors (and v. hot!!!) on LinX. with (only) 1.3875v.
What is the maximum safe core temp for these chips?
I think I'll need 1.4** vCore, but don't want to fry it, although I have megahalems and I have seen other ppl. stating they have had 3.6 or higher, with way more vCore, on air...
w00t!
Got a solid 3.6 @ 1.3875 vCore.
LinX temps are a bit high for comfort, but mid 50's with normal use (gaming). :)
well at present I have: 400 x 9
1.3875 vCore
1:3.2 memory divider
vDroop compensation enabled
GTL Ref 0 - 3 Voltages all +1
NB 1.312v
SB 1.575v
dram 1.801v
works for me, solid as a rock, but v hot on LinX, not too bad under "normal" use.
Good luck and have fun.
If these setting screw any of your stuff please don't blame me... :shocked:
edit:
wonder where he ^^^ went...
got mine @ 3.75, 1.4v now, passes every test - except LinX where I get errors. Not willing to give it any more juice on air cooling - too hot already. I think 4+ would be fairly easy with water, but I really don't need more than 3.2... Looks like 3.6 will be my 24/7 setting.
/me loves my Blackops. :)
