Yeah... Looks like me too. Too bad actually. But Asus it is. I really wanted to buy a DFI again, but oh well. Not sure if the MSI or Gigabyte guys are gonna do an SB750 version of their 790FX boards. Dunno
I looked at the Foxconn, but it looks like the 140w 9950 snot supported, so the heck with that. At least the Asus guys have a massive power subsystem, as well as a reasonable layout. Only thing is that the Asus guys are slower than $hit when it comes to BIOS work.
Oh well.
Well at least Asus gets their bioses updated eventually;)

That (well and typos) is the only thing I dislike about DFI.
I guess the logic is: it's better to make new mobos that people will
buy instead of updating the older ones that people have already bought. Small (relatively) company in one hand and the giant Asus on the other.Different strokes for different folks.

well of course no one knows the quality of the bios..
whatever. I think the pwm-section is of the highest importance for good oc (besides correct design of the connections to provide good signals but well most boards now are well designed that way). Biggest difference between a burning gigabyte and a rockstable m2r..
And no, i don't think m2r was overkill for phenom OC. Appears to be just right for 65nm Phenoms.. Of of the greatest part of hardware you can own with a phenom.
But perhaps 45nm will make this all obsolete. And indeed, it's a sad fact that DFI is saving money on the amd side... Another point to say AMD please do st about it!! Would have been that nice a updated m2r.
But i think its because of the short-lived AM2+ as well. AM3 for sure they will support another high-end board.. And well, till then i'll do with my stuff... will switch to 45nm when high k phenoms are out ;)
Whats interesting is that DFI was on fire with 790FX M2R updates. They did many more, and issued them more frequently, than any others. I was truly impressed. Asus does get around to it, but they are slow. I had the M3A32-MVP when the 790FX first came out, and Asus was painfully slow to correct some obvious issues. They seem to be more active on the volume boards. I also have some M2A-VMs around and those get updated all the time..still.
I certainly understand the commercial side to this, as I'm sure DFI didn't sell enough M2R boards to really get too excited about doing another version, testing and distributing it. But the M2RS approach is a little too cheesy for my taste.
Either way, I was hoping for another M2R with a SB750 to live with for the next year or so. But it was not to be.
take it simple: plan the next upgrade with am3, not before if you have a m2r.. or buy watercooling for it and push your phenom till it bleeds and/or the 45nm come out ;) this is what dfi suggests with their product policy..
that's also what I am thinking. I still have an 5000+ be and i won't go "phenom" before 45nm. Might just wait until am3 kicks in. Until then I'm replacing my asus board with some other, I don't mind stick with the sb600 as long as it has a good bios to work about. That m2r is really something, but is it just me or is it getting kinda hard to get?
I'm kind of confused...the LP JR 790GX-M2RS only supports max 125w amd chips? i got an AMD Athlon X2 BE-2400 and I've already ordered the DFI LP JR 790GX-M2RS and should get it by next week...will my chip work on this board?

It's kind of expensive for a mATX board and definitely not many PCI slots (1) and that would be definitely be covered up by a VC in the neighboring PCi-Express slot. Also not the best placement for the floppy connector but I don't put floppies in my systems anymore.
Think I'll wait for either a full ATX board or a 790FX + SB750 board from DFI. Do love DFI though.
with watercooling the new dfi's should be good also.. if you dont find any coolers, look at the link below.. there are some guys in germany (anfi-tec) that build coolers for the m2r and the m2rs, and they're looking quite good...

are there coolers for the m2r from koolance??
Not specifically fitted, but they have NB and SB blocks, plus a universal PWM FET block. I've had pretty good luck with their stuff over the years, never a real problem. But the D-Tek Fuzion CPU block is amazing, it was literally 10 degrees cooler than the Koolance CPU 300. Koolance just upgraded their CPU block again, and I guess it performs much better now.

I felt kind of bad giving too much voltage to my 9850be inside the
M2r knowing that with ACC you only need a slight increase.
Hopefully I'll get the windows installed by the end of the weekend on something I picked up a few days ago from NCIX .;)

Yea it's the LP JR 790gx mATX.
The voltage can not be set as a number,but as a "extra Vid add" in
mVolts,with .025 increments. I added mV .200 to the stock 1.3, you can also
subtract in the same fashion. Bios does have a lot of options,an entire section
for the IGX (video).The cpu does not have the HEX,but the "common"
multiplier.CMOS reloaded comes "loaded" with the profiles:

Just installed the WinXP x64 late yesterday and tried the newest Kubuntu
with KDE4 (loaded as a live CD,without hard drive)
Both work,without a problem (so far;)) AOD 2.1.2 however wouldn't start -
a Windows error comes up listing something like *aut*ole32*.dll as the problem.
I did install the SP2 for the x64 but that did not solve it (yet)
Looking for a nice mATX case now:)
