thanks i'm typing on my new computer right now
is there anything i need to know about the gpu client?

check off "allow recipt of work...."

Advanced Tab:

Select: "slightly higher' for core priority
Check off "do NOT lock cores to specific cpu"

Thanks Synthetickiller! I've tryed to install the smp both of them but i don't know whats going on with it. can i just run 2 of the normal single core clients i just don't know how.

Are you running 6.22 or 5.91?

I am running 5.91 b/c I can't get 6.22 working.

Well right now every things all up and running i'm just running the GPU client and the CPU client (its only the one core because SMP doesen't work)

Someone will post the SMP stuff when we figure it out.

I know Marvin mentioned working with it earlier, but I don't know if he did.

Is it simple to start and stop SMP? If not i'll just opt for 2 consoles because i can go into services and stop them and then restart when i'm done gaming :D

ctrl+c should stop it.

Since I reinstalled vista, it works immediately. For other's it doesn't.

If you want to be sure, shut down (log off might work too) to ensure it saves the files.

I run smp while gaming. I have no issues, my production just drops a lot while the game is going. UT3 gets NO slow down w/ smp running.

About SMP and gaming, it's per user diffrent. I notice smp running with crysis, but not with Cod4 ( don't you love optimized games lmao ).

Hotwaxisbad, please post exactly the order of what you treid and the results you got we'll try to get you sorted out. Running console's is an option. Pauzing a service iirc doesn't work, stop and start does.

Edit: and yes I did upgrade to 6.22 but I used the drop in exe so that only works with an upgrade and if you had and wanted to keep MPI.

I'll work on trying to get the SMP client to work later, right now i'm just happy with the 3-4k ppd of the 9600GT

well, i've tryed both the different SMP versions

With 6.22 beta2 for Deino MPI (32-bit only) and i open the file Installer thats a windows batch file I get an error that says "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Package."

With 6.22 beta2 for MPICH (32-bit or 64-bit) I run the .exe file I download from The download site I install it I then go here on my computer C:\Program Files\Folding@Home Windows SMP Client V1.01 and open the Install file thats a windows batch file. I then get this error (i'm just going to type it out because i can't copy and paste the counsel thing. This is what it says....
OpenScManager failed:
Acces is denied. (error 5)
Unable to remove the previous installation, install failed.
Accound (domain\user) [MainCompuer\Matt]

i don't know whats up with it? but on the flip side my gpu is putting out some nice numbers! A grand 3427 ppd w00t!!

Think you will be most happy with the drop in exe, been flawless for me atleast. No need to run any install scripts ( but only works if you have deino or mpi already installed through a previous install ).

Your gpu is still slacking abit, can do 4K if you run your shaders at 1875, posted ss in the forum before somewhe. 3.5 is still :wtf: though don't worry :up:

What are your gpu temps while folding?

OK, so I just cleared out all my folding files off my hard drive. Now i'm downloading the GPU client and the SMP mpich one. I hope it will all work out. How do I over clock the shaders? I'll post temps soon.

Good point, I use furrmark though but both can be used :up:

Its just the easiest way I know to detect errors w/o getting a bsod.

Wow, well I got the SMP client working i think, unfortuinatly when I deleted both the CPU and GPU folding files (i deleted all the folding files on my computer to try to have a fresh start) now when ever I try to install the Gpu client i just get an error saying "Unable to install because a newer version of this product is already installed" I don't know what I did wrong?!

Once I get it going I will overclock the shaders and stuff like that

I now got the GPU client to work along with the CPU smp client, i'm downloading Rivia Tuner right now

You're gonna OC the e2180?

Yeah I just don't totally know how, also will my stock cooler and the p31 board allow it?
