given the size of the heatsink on that we KNOW that card doesn't draw THAT much power.
it might very well be my next card.

any one what two HD 4850 instead of one GTX 280?:D
let's hope AMD can brew their cat 8.6 more better because CF heavily related to the driver/software, if it scales as good as we expected in most of the game, maybe dual 4850 can blow GTX 280 away...
Price comparison: dual 4850= $398, GTX 280= $649:eek:
(initial test shows HD 4850 CF in CoD4 performs as good as GTX 280.....pls wait for the whole test result)
PS: don't kill the messenger
PS2: I am an NV fanboy who believe dual GTX 280 performs more better than 4 4850
PS3: I am drunk tonight
@Nedjo, ya the site is badly damaged by some WP plug-in incapability issues and needs to be fixed or upgraded.
if you still saw the RSS page, just press F5..
That would be something, hah. What I meant was that the 2xx line is 10.5" and supremely power hungry so it just puts them even further out of reach. 400 for the 260 plus a new case plus a new power supply = close to $650 if I want to do it right. I'd rather get a PSP, which I just did, which will definitely bring me more hours of gameplay than the 260/280.
oh man come out with a review already!!!!!:D this is my list for purchases in the next while.
-Asus P5Q Deluxe
-2x 13.5inch subs and amp:D
-2x ATI 4850's for a little crossfire action
-Nivida GTX 280
shortly after which i will do a direct comparison on 4850 crossfire with the GTX 280 and take in all the factors and provide a mini review.
exciting times ahead:)
haha. hey im not made of money. so the 4850's will be a bargain and the GTX 280 from the reviews i have read and what i have concluded is that the card is pretty good. i read most of the reviews and the review i trust most (hardwarecanucks) showed it to have fairly high performance (faster than the GX2 in pretty much everything) and the thing that sells me on GTX 280 is it's single card! not to mention all of the other benefits that come with the new core (yes i could care less about power draw and heat output:D).
the problem that the GTX 280 has is that most people over hyped it. i will admit it is a tad slower than i had expected but if you look at the specs is is very explainable. the 9800GX2 has better specs period and yet the GTX 280 beats it. impressive if you think about it. and about ATI's cards while they will be cheap i am still not sold on there performance. i am not conficed they have fixed the AA problems and with only 16ROPs they will have some issues. one thing i know for sure is that the 48XX's will 3dmark like no one have ever seen before but i don't play 3dmark. when i buy a high end card or setup i expect it to pull max possible details at a good resolution (1680x1050 and above) WITH AA at least of 4X. the GTX280 has no problems doing this in any game (save crysis on very high) and i doubt the 48XX's will. while crossfire will help to fix the problem you also might run into driver and microstuddering issues.if you think about the specs show by ATI the 4870 will not be that much faster than the HD3870X2 which is kind of a lame duck on performance. but that the way i see things. hopefully ATI will pull a fantastic card out and i am sure they will be good price to performance. but i already have a 8800gtx. i don't want a little bit faster for a lower price. i want to be able to tell a difference and be able to crank my settings up even more.
anyways i will be obtaining a GTX 280 for a buddies video edit machine build (CUDA FTW) and i will do extensive testing to pass my final verdict on it.
Not much chance of that, Tweaktown says 2 x crossfire beats the GTX 280

I like, beautiful
My bet is the 4850 beats the 9800gtx by roughly ~10% (bit more, but under 15%).
I would like to see 2 4850's vs a 260 and a 280.
They were scheduled for EOL already, and that way it won't compete with the GTX200's
