Hi HondayGuy....
Your running with the TLB fix enabled, did you know...???
The Green button in AOD means its running in "Safe Mode" i.e TLB fix enabled, which is really hindering the CPU performance...
It needs to be RED to be running in Perforamnce mode.... though that said if you can get 3.4Ghz clocks running with the TLB fix enabled, but maybe with Red mode, TLB Fix disabled, you can only get lower clocks then maybe its worth keeping the TLB fix enabled....
But you might get better performance with TLB Disabled and lower clocks, than you are at higher clocks with TLB Fix Enabled.....???? Might be worth looking into at least....!!!
Anyone else have any thoughts on it...???
i thought with b3 there is no bug and so bios and os dont apply the fix, but that theres some performance gain whatever...
ok i tested it.. with button red it is slower in the aod bench then with button green... although the scores are not very reliable.. you have to do it 5-10 times to know the margin..
I have in the BIOS Enabled C1E Support which is the same as the RED mode your talking about
LAt I heard was that even though some BIOS' do differentiate between CPU and enable/disable TLB Fix accordingly, so that when a B3 is installed TLB Fix is disabled in BIOS, Vista enables it...
Not sure if this has changed yet.... I know that whenever I run AOD, by default I have the Red button.... which is supposeldy High Performance mode.
So I'm not sure...maybe one is conflicting with the other...???
PS: Honda Guy ypu posted while I was typing the above...!!!
C1E is related to power saving/cool'n'quiet as far as I'm aware....it has nothing to do with TLB Fix..!!!!
i think if b3 is installed, vista doesnt enable the fix. its only with b2, that if you disable the fix in bios, it will be applied by vista whatever setting..
Wierd cuzz when I enabled the C1E I then get the red ring around the green circle
Here is my Score in Performance when Green

mmh perhaps thats the secret behind the red mode? c1e disabled, so the processor doesnt enter halt mode? would make sense and could account for a minimal performance gain..
benched again with c'n'q disabled and now the scores were more constant... red button seems to be minimal ahead ~30 points or so..
thanks for the unganged tip.. i thought it be only for massive multitasking but of course, multithreading has profits as well and most today games are at least using dual-core..
found an increase in vantage also, 3dm not sure.. only one gfx in the system by now and have to do some benches to compare..
Oese:
When Overclocking make sure that you have CnQ Disabled all times, I never have mine enabled.
i know for my higher overclocks its disabled.. i use it in 24/7 3ghz desktop mode to do some savings.. at the benches its also disabled of course..
updated
topdog could you post a link too
nice ;)
Your welcome about the tip Oese...
kazgirl how come your gpu score is lower than the weedmans:shrug:
For the Heck of it..Vantage Entry:)
Had to see if I could beat Weedman

Just looked at the compare now...
UUmmm.... I think its because he has 4 GPU's - 2 x 3870X2's over my 2 GPU's - 2 x 4850's..!!!!
But hey for the price he paid for his 2 x 3870X2's compared to the price I paid for my 2 x 4850's I think I win that round....LOL...:yepp: He deserves the extra 900 or so points for the extra $$$/£££'s he's paid...!!!!
Oh....OK..... nice price you got for them then.... putting it another way then.... 3870X2 was the top range card at its time, whereas the 4850 is a mid-range in comparison..... 3870X2 has twice as many GPU's and yet the the difference between the mid-range 4850 single GPU (or dual GPU in X-fire) and the 3870X2 with Quad GPU in X-fire is not that great...!!!
The 4850 is by far the superior card IMO.... though of course if prices for the 3870X2's come down enough now that 4-series is avaialable then clearly the 3870X2's in X-fire may be the way to go.... but I'm hoping at some point to add a 4870X2 to my 4850's...the main problem I have is the slot arrangement on the M3A32-MVP doesn't really allow me to run 2 dual slot cards in Crossfire without having to remove my TV Card from the PCI-E slot, or having to remove other devices that are occupying expansion slots... I have a VGA PSU that uses one, and I have a bracket for feeding the water-cooling pipes through in another.... I also have a switch for the CCLK in one, though that could be removed actually...I never really use it anyway..!!!!
I'd like to go for 4870X2/4870X2 in Crossfire, but I just havn't got the space for them at the moment....that's why I opted for the single slot 4850's well that and the cost....:)
There is a typo in the second post. I guess it is 3dmark Vantage scoreboard and not 3dmark06 :)
:am::slapass:
Same here Oese, for everyday use I set it 3.150 as seem in pic
