Tony can't you already do this with the winreloaded utility?
Im not talking about running an E8500 at 4.5GHZ, im talking about proving the system will run stable at a given clock we all know is safe.
You obvioulsy have not seen the prime database we have on the OCZ forum or the guides i post there that show safe easy ways to get the best from our product with given platforms.
XS is a small place, the world outside this forum in many cases has no idea what these bios do and how you control them, so sometimes you have to do it for them.
Without going to the Wiki or google, how many here have an idea of what data clock skew does, or DQS skew or what disabling DQS training does? Quite a few XS readers just follow what others have set blindly in the bios profiles i see posted, all I am doing is creating a profile the end user can load and test....no harm in that at all.
We will also NOT create profiles for every end users, there will be generic profiles for ram etc that will have mild CPU overclocks that should work at default or very close to default CPU vcores. The nature of Intel memory overclocking is that in some cases a CPU overclock is needed...we can not get round this unfortunately.
We won't run silly high bus speeds in these profiles, I think you really got the wrong end of what i was saying.
I'm a big fan of DFI, their boards had and have been very pleasing to me in using them, currently i use DFI LanParty LT X38-T2R, and it has been solid for about 3 months going in. This feature is a nice effort for DFI to broaden their user base, lately their board BIOS has been quite easy & forgiving for noob users in auto mode, but by this feature, those same noobs won't have to work their limited knowledge and take a risk of borking their board, since a decent & safe, preset OCing profile is just one download away.
how to use this things, im using DK X38 T2R and i press F1 when boot but nothing happen, even the menu for ABS doesnt come out
As far as I read, everything but the F1 function works on 'older' DFI models.
Basically, it's an operating system for your BIOS. It's a great idea for those who use to OC heavily in the late 90's and early part of this decade. Some people don't have the time it takes to root out particular problems but still know what they are doing and know what they want from their system.
This will help! At least I hope it will.
