Finally... Vendetta 2 vs TRUE vs HDT-S1283
I finally did get around to buying the S1284 btw now that this thread comes back up, it should be in this weekend, thermalright was also kind enough to send me a TRUE Black edition, cant wait to see the results, also planning on making a few changes to where the reviews will be posted but thats a secret ;)
I was told by Loren at Thermalright that it performs identically to the TRUE, since it is the same exact cooler but with a black finish.
can't wait to see your results.
Xigmatek tells me that the new Achillies will be ready next week, im not sure when the sample will be in, i have both the original one that Newegg has been selling people, and ill compare it against the new one for you.
Good review but the differences bw the performance are marginal. It all comes down to cost, compatibilty and taste. Anyway the debate is moot as 4 HDT coolers are here. ie sunbeam. I wish that was included in comparison. Mybe next time along with the new HDT-S1284
Does anybody know if the new achilles is out yet?
I dont know, and i dont want to make any promises that there is a "revised version", so far the only thing xigmatek is advertising on their site is the one that is already out. Personally i think the whole thing is bullcrap but if there is a revised version ill be testing it whether they send a sample or not.
Silenx has a similar cooler:

FrostyTech review
sounds good
when is True Copper edition coming out?
id like to point out that anything silenx makes me want to barf, and that silenx is a generic design from sunbeamtech ;)
You're entitled to your own opinion, but Xigmatek is a generic design of another company as well. There's a particular manufacturer that holds the patent on all of the HDT coolers, and Xigmatek licenses from them (and so does Zaward, OCZ, Kingwin, and a few others).
there was a display during the Computex but it won't go on retail.

ComputeX’08 Coverage - Sorry but no U120E cooper version.

Seems we did not make things clear yeaterday, beceasue today a Thermalright rep expains that company actually have no plan for producing Ultra 120 Extreme full cooper version. The cooler in this pic is only for ComputeX display only. It is said that the weight will broke any mobo so they won’t debut such a product.
yes i know this already, i was told that xigmatek owned the exclusive rights to it but how true that is i dont know, also, i was told today that the review sample will ship out monday now, and that they are not allowed to show pictures of it due to NDA :ROTF:
:ROTF::rofl:
You gotta love the excuses. Also, the patent owner is out of Taiwan, and they license to whomever will pay the fee. Looking at Kingwin, OCZ, and two others (nameless Taiwanese companies), Xigmatek is not exclusive. I'm sure they wish they were, though.
