Volcano Reservoir

Yeah 15 years working the docks has created an incredible Popeye the Sailor type vocab for me :p:

I liked it clear too actually...but the client wanted paint.

A lighting effect for the output is going to be mandatory. Love that shot of the huge Volcano water feature..very Las Vegas....

The plan is to underlight the whole unit and use UV orange dye. This is not for a PC BTW...but it could be...it's strictly for fun I guess.

I feel seriously hungover from the fumes...

EDIT: it is for use in the PC loop...lol

You are simply insane. This is the most unique res I've ever seen, and I can't wait to see it all lit up.

Well I gotta let all the solvent wick off and the paint shell over nicely or it will turn to crap when it gets wet...but I will be working on the baseplate..

Very nice work! However, may I come with a suggestion?
The yellow on the base looks to "clean" compared with the smudgy orange/red/black mountain. Typically in a lava river it's mixed with blackened "cold" parts and orange bits.

Agreed...and the black parts are too shiney and perfect...but I gotta stop somewhere...

If I start torching on stuff that's glued and painted I might as well have a fire extinguisher in the other hand...

LOL CD you should drop a small in sump pump. Something like a rio 50 to throw the water up out of that hole. That way i dont think you'll lose performance on the flow area.

I think a very small rio might fit inside that. Knowing your skill you could probably pull it off most excellently.

I wanted to use a Db-1 because I have one here and they are submersible but then I was informed by the client that this is going in line for his PC loop :shocked:

I thought for sure this was a stand alone thing...but now I don't need to worry about a pumps...he wants barbs on the side and that's it. I'll be sure to flow test it though...but not necessarily with UV reactive dye. I just don't have any orange-red on hand...so I will have to leave that to the owner.

Tell the client to use it as a standard bay res. And drop the DB-1 inside for the effect.

Having it inline and having the water shoot up like that, he's gonna lose head. :X
