I would just leave the nuts off as they serve no purpose once the block is mounted.
I have mostly the same WC setup as many of you here and will be putting this together today.
EVGA 750i FTW.
EK 780i NB block - I will be mounting without the problematic nuts shown.
Enzotech universal chipset HSF for SB
EK 680i mosfet block.
Everything looks good except for the mosfet block.
Ill be tinkering today and seeing if it fits as is, or if it needs to be modded at all......
Should have this all completed with the rig running before the end of the weekend unless I hit a snag that requires ordering something....

My SB is an aircooled HSF in case I was not clear. My loop is allready at the maximum resistance I want to apply and hell.....its only the southbridge :P
Using this Enzotech low profile chipet HSF although I bought it from PPC.

Hi guys, the SB-VGA-790i block will work perfectly for this card.
Only this "thing" might be on the way so you might to dremel off a tiny part of the copper base.

Pics to follow but for now.
1. EK 680i mosfet block fits PERFECTLY on the EVGA 750i FTW
2. EK 780i northbridge/chipset block also fits perfectly so long as you remove the nuts mentioned above.
Ill post pics tomorrow. Build is 99% complete just need to tidy up some wires still and work out a fan controller issue.

The block just touched the mosfet chips when turned (not enough to be effective) :shakes:
The acrylic top touches a few capacitors this way, though with a thermal pad it might have been ok!
For the best fit with this block it need to be tight up agaist the R47's, however that results in no holes matching up!!! :down:

So I need to find a way to fit the block, but how? :shrug:
I could drill a hole through the block and get one fixture, make a mounting plate or maybe place a thin copper plate across the mosfet chips first and then fit the block on top of the copper plate? :hammer:
The easiest way to attach the block would be with thermal tap, but would it be strong enough to hold it on...maybe place a thermal pad between thermal tape? :shrug: :hehe: :ROTF: :rofl:

The block will fit two ways, although as you'll see below..... only one way will work ok.... :confused:

However having the block with the barbs between the Gfx slots is not possible with EK/D-Tek barbs, one of them touches the waterblock on the GFX card (8800 Ultra) :down:

Having the block this way does give a better fit, however it is very tight to the GFX card and large 1/2" compression/ fat/wide boy barbs will probably not fit......:down:

With 1/2" D-Tek barbs there seems to be enough space for 7/16" hose :up:, maybe 1/2" (3/4" OD) hose :shrug:

I wouldn't want to use Steel Worm Drive clip on these barbs, shorting on the GFX card would be a sure thing! :smoke:
So this seems to be the best way to use the block on this board, all I need now is to sort out the Mosfet block? :shakes:
I decided to try placing a 3mm copper plate between the Mosfet block and the Mosfet chips. :yepp:
The copper plate was cut wider than the mosfet block so that it would cover all the mosfet chips. :up:

I had this discussion with someone on the EVGA forums as well.
On my board the outside half of the 2nd row of fets was uncovered by the stock heatsink/heatpipe just as the pictures of the 680i block show, so I considered that to be normal.
I compared back to back the 680i mosfet block and the mosfet heatsink portion of my heatpipe and it matched 100% perfectly.
The only thing I can think of is that I purchased this board the very first day it was released. Perhaps there was some issue with early released boards and the heatpipe?
I dont know. Sorry if anyone purchased a block based on my information and is unhappy.
Still haven't done mine yet <sigh> Marquis, your board looks good with it's clothes on :) Wouldn't it be better to put some thermal compound between the plate and mosfet cooler and have the screws just clamp them together than introducing thermal pads?
I had planed on just using thermal paste but the copper plate added extra height to the mosfet block and needed longer screws ....which made the block a bit wobbly...... :nuts:
The thermal tape helped make the plate copper plate hold on to the mosfet block better......and reduce wobble! :wiggle:
So was there ever a mosfet block release for the 750i ftw that actually worked perfectly out of the box?
Re the SB cooler, couldn't you use the worm clips with some of that insulating/isolating sponge that normally protects the surround chips on the nortbridge? Or how about some shrinkwrap? I don't know what to use on mine as I don't like using unclamped tubing:shrug:
