Try a newer version of CPU-Z? v1.45 is the current version, and might detect it differenly.

Trying 4Ghz Pi run at lowest Vcore I could, got 13 iteration in before it crashed, I'm sure I can pull it off with a better mount.

Idle at 51C and max load (with OCCT) at 65C... weird.

still too hot inside to play much. 1 core idles 10c hotter than the other, and my block is mounted fine...

I hear the new 45nm chips have some stuck DTS on the die. Run the test on realtemp .. as far as I've read, all you have to worry about it is how close it is to TJ Max.

After some mods. So I can now conclude: this is like a E8500 with half the cache... literally. Ease of overclocking is the same as E8500.

I want to use the E7200 as the base for my home entertainment PC. How will this work with a ASrock Woldale 1333 MB, I know its cheap but thats why I want to use it. Use some Gskill 2*1GB 667 and put it into my old case using the antec PSU, Samsung 250 HD and 8800GT graphics card.

Should cost me $200 for the barebones!

my 4 sticks of mixed ddr667/800 can't hack anything higher. might throw my 2 x 512mb D9 Ballistix in to see the real wall on this chip.

One simple BSEL mod, and you get yourself a E8500 chip. You just need to tape one contact point, like... this:

If the motherboard supports overclocking, by BSEL modding, you can effectively leave your chip at the 333MHz FSB strap instead of 266MHz FSB strap. That should be an easy 333 to 400 overclock, and then, you will have yourself a 3.80GHz chip. That's how I did it with the GIGABYTE GA-73PVM-S2H. Originally, any strap below 333MHz on the GIGABYTE GA-73PVM-S2H wouldn't let me overclock much above 333MHz.

after you bsel moded, can you still add up some fsb?

too bad i sold my e7200 already. darn, makes me regret.

@ KAGD1, i like how your pumping 1.6v through your NB :eek: i'm assuming you have a fan blowing over it or some type of aftermarket cooling? other than that, nice clocks :up:.

It booted right up at 3.16GHz like a E8500. Hassle-free. If you have a motherboard that supports 1333MHz FSB but has FSB strap at 333MHz, then this mod is recommended. It forces the board to go at 333MHz strap originally, giving you room to go much higher than the normal 266MHz or 200MHz straps.

Originally, I could only go from 266 to 333. Now I'm at 3.80GHz, evidently.

WHATS the BEST Motherboard under $100 for the E7200

Lets have your answers;

What is the best mother board for under a $100 to use with the E7200 taking into account the following;

OC only to 3-3.2GB using a Coolmaster 752 fan/heat sink,
Use 2GB of Gskill 667 RAM
Samsung 320GB single platter disc
8600GT graphics card.

Used for Home Entertainment, DVI/HDMI LCD TV
MP3 Music Play back at 256-320kbs
DVD copying

(May want to try installing VISTA SP1)

I get $100 pocket money from my wife a month, so I will pick up the E7200 at the end of this month and then the MoBo from next months allowance.
