On a CPU only loop, restriction or pressure drop really doesn't matter much at all, it doesn't matter if you're only getting .5GPM if you get better temperatures

I really like XSPC's stuff.
It may be acrylic, but I haven't heard of any of their stuff cracking, and they look damn sexy.
They know how to make their stuff.
I'd like to see the temp data between this and the Fuzion v2 when you get the chance martin ;)
I just got a V2 today, and I plan to give it the works. After this first round I'm thinking some testing of the other nozzles are in order as well on my D5 that I'm using for testing.
I should have some results to share in about a week or so, this logging stuff takes forever. I also have to leave the loop sitting to bleed for a day between nozzles switching.
Any hints on release?

Quality acrylic typically doesn't crack for quite some time if not overtightened.
I think acrylic has gotten a bad rap from its unruly sibling, polycarbonate.
I just had to buy a brass top for my chipset block from danger den because I dropped the standard acrylic top on the floor and it sort of shattered. The area around one of the bolt holes sheared off. I was sitting in a chair when it just slipped out of my fingers. So I am guessing it fell maybe 3 feet onto a wood floor. So forgive me if I don't trust acrylic.
Also I just had to return an XSPC pump top that had the dreaded misaligned thread problem. The tapped hole was so skewed that only one side of the o-ring compressed on the fitting. So I am thinking these guys are a lot better at design than quality control.
And that top is just too big for a lot of motherboards. It would never fit on mine. Nice test though Martin. We may have a new king of CPU water blocks. Just don't drop it.

btw, the water temp is lower than a fuzion but how does that relate to the temps? i dont think this coresponds to lower cpu temps or am i wrong?:confused:

High quality acrylic, such as the brand name Lexan Plexiglass, most definitely will not crack if dropped on the floor. Unfortunately a lot of the acrylic used in WB's/reservoirs is not of that quality.
My tapping is aligned, but as a machinist I can say that the machining quality of my XSPC top was not very good, and the tap used was worn out beyond belief... it would have been thrown away long before it got to that point at my shop. Frankly I was a bit dissapointed.
The tap was so worn that the threads it cut were rounded and severely undersized, and I actually had to use a socket wrench to even thread the barbs in at all, let alone tighten them. I ended up having to retap it with a nice sharp BSPP tap have, and it took away a disturbing amount of material on the re-tap.
The mount is definitely a bit on the big side. If I were to buy one I would trim it down to just the 775 mounting holes purely for aesthetics.
I always thought Lexan was a polycarbonate. In its wiki entry it is described as both a polycarbonate and an acrylic. Weird. I would have thought they would have been mutually exclusive. Whatever it is it seems like it would be a nice material for clear water block tops.
Very surprising and impressive results! Less restrictive than most and the lowest temps, no wonder it's smiling. :)

They said shipping today in limited quantities to the UK/EU resellers first, should be showing up in shops in the next few days.
And the acrylic issue is possibly a non-issue, but it's just one of those things you can't really assess during a review and time and a larger number of users are about all that will rule that out. I've had very thin acrylic in my D-Tek Fuzion GFX for over a year now without any problem, so a good design using acrylic is fine.
My only worry is the hold down pressure and bending of the hold down corners. It is a nice thick material though, so I could just be paranoid.

It's nice to see that there's new competition to the fusion... but really, if you have _any_ way of influencing them, they need to offer a brass/copper or at least a delrin version... I know that's just a very personal bias but ooh well... :shrug:

I always understood it as more like an acrylic, as I have worked with acrylic, polycarbonate, and acrylic, and I would have to Lexan more to a good acrylic as far as physical properties.
I do know that polycarbonate cracks like fricking crazy though, so they must add a crapload of plasticizers or something. :)
First, it's not described as both a polycarbonate and an acrylic in that entry....try really paying attention next time. The entry said it's "acrylic-like in appearance."
Lexan is a polycabonate, pure and simple...nothing more, nothing less.

Also, remember there are lots of different grades of Lexan to suit different purposes.....Lexan found in aircraft canopies is very different than Lexan in hospital settings and use, for instance.
Second, quit taking everything found on Wiki as gospel......much of what you see and find on Wiki is just plain wrong.....as anyone and everyone can edit anything and everything without as much as "proving" their facts, much of Wiki is just hearsay and not factual at all. Much better to find the source....as in this case, GE Plastics, who invented Lexan.
