As promised here are the pics of my finished rig! Hope you guys like it :up:
I've changed the fans for some red zalman ZMF3 ones they are a little noisy but they look realy cool and hey that's what matters! I think they are good on the cooling/air flow as well (better than the stock lian li fans anyway). Has anyone got these fans and what do you think of them? How difficult would it be for me to add annother block to the loop now and maybe while i'm at it change the coolant?? Anyway for now I am very happy there has been a few problems along the way but all sorted now!! Im clocked to 4GHz stable but thats the same as on air. My CPU temp is 44c almost not moving idle and 50-56 stressed, I thought these temps would be a little better with the thermchill pa120.3 rad Does that seem right to you guys??
Ide like to say thank you to the members of this forum for helping me along the way this build I know its not much for most of you on here but for me its a start and who knows how it will end up!

I am not happy with the final look of it all :confused: I dont think the red of the fans particularly works with the UV lights. Im thinking about changing the fans and the lights for some say... White ones? What do you think? Please reccomend colour schemes so I can play around with it a bit and see which ones suits me best! :D

Also what temps should I be expecting on the CPU (intel 8400 45nm CPU should be running very cool)? I think my temps are a little high! @ around 44c idle and going up to as much as 60c+ stressed! (they are readings from Core Temp, Real Temp marks them a little lower)...

I tried having the fans blowing through the radiator and my temps were MUCH higher (around 10c more). Now I've got them sucking air through the rad and my temps are much much better!Quote:

Why didn't you cut a vent hole in the top of your case? Your radiator would get fresh air and your temperatures would go down considerably.

You can use a Dremel (or Dremel clone) or a jigsaw to cut the case.
As far as putting the rest of the stuff together, a sharp knife to cut the tubing, drill to drill holes to mount the radiator to the case, and a screw driver for the actual mounting of fans and radiator.
sorry to derail the thread, but i had a question regarding tools also. i was also gonna go out and buy a dremel and was wondering will just any dremel do? i dont need a separate drill right, can i just get a drill bit for the dremel? and what bit or whatever would i need for cutting a case?
Yes i used a dremel for mods on the actual case, I say "mods" but I mean very minor stuff just to get rid of the hard drive bay at the top. Now looking back it would have been easier to use a drill (the funny screw thing that you have to drill to get out) insted of wasting yet annother dremel bit! To make the holes on top pannel of the case to hang the radiator I found it much better/easier to use an electric screwdriver (hand held 7.2v BOSH i think it was...) with a drill bit than with the dremel and Ive got to say they came out better than I thought they would! :D I wrote a sort of mini guide on the last page of how I mounted the radiator have a look if that interests you!

I got the Dremel 300-1/55 and its great because it came with quite a few usefull bits and a really cool flexi arm thingy. I would recomend that one although it was a bit steep when i bought it I no nothing of current prices :up:Quote:

Yes you could easily get it all done with a dremel, I would get a good bit for making screw holes and thats it! Glad I could help :)
tcorbyn, can you measure the vertical distance from the bottom of the case up to bottom of the 5.25" bays? i was wondering how tight of a fit a pa120.2 would be in the front where the two 120mm intake fans are. thanks
Looks like a PA120.2 could fit there, but just barely.
Ive seen it done, I've even seen people put to pa120.2s there! I'm not at home at the moment but I will measure it as soon as I get back, sorry!
Just a word of caution about drilling metals with a Dremel. 5000 RPM (slowest RPM on a Dremel) is usually too much for most commonly available drill bits to handle and they'll burn up. Best to use a drill for drilling and the Dremel for cutting/sanding/polishing.
