I'm used to using a phase cooler for 24/7 use so volume was fine for me but my mother on the other hand wasn't too happy with it! Maybe I'll do something to reduce the volume to.
Nice work, glad it improved things for you!

Yeah, they are the same units, just sold under the OCZ name. Only thing bad about these gamexstream units is below average ripple supression...still great units though, especially the one's i picked up cheap recertified for cheap as heck(sub $50 shipped for a 700W)
Dad has been complaining his power supply is loud...may just have to throw one of my spare r4's that i got cheap when XoXide went out into his power supply, since he has a 700W GXS as well.
Hi
I did the same thing to my ocz gamex..
Replaced the fan with a noiseblock 120mm 1250rpm fan:

Isolated the wires again using normal tape. (They are hard to de-isolate.. I cut a few of the small wires inside the big wire(?) - hope it's not that important )
So far it's working out fine.. will report back if i experience any troubles
back from the dead...
I got this PSU with CapXon capacitors.
After 6 months of 24/7 use PSU = DEAD.
Don't know if capacitors are the problem. I will replace those soon and see if it returns from dead.
Although, I Don't recommend this PSU to anyone.
