I feel the same way, but here goes. The review doesn't focus on 9800GTX, but it's compared to most of the other high-end cards of today.

first of all, that was a minor critique at best, so you gotta calm down.
The article says that "Sure, there are differences in the details if we look closely, but honestly speaking; can you tell when you're running through a rain forest with twelve dozen guerrilla soldiers shooting at you?", the implication being that the difference between 0xAA and 8xAA during gaming isn't noticeable. Thats a bit extreme to say, I think you should of went with shots of 2xAA vs 4xAA or something to make your point better.
...at 300euros its not a "steal"...what is wrong with you guys...? a new XBOX right now costs 199euros and nobody ia saying that it is a "steal" and you suggest that a gfx card which costs 300 is a "steal" ...
no wonder nVidia is feeding the market with stuff like this:down:
no wonder most game companies are starting to make games for the consoles only:shakes: ..with the gfx card alone costing 50% more than an entire console...

i remember when the first VooDoo from 3DFX card came out it costed under 300 and it was the one and only thing besides SG and other specialized stuff that was able to do 3D,it was uber-high tech compared to everything else available...and now were talking about a rehashed 8`s series from nVidia which came out over a year ago:(
lolz
199 for something with 512mb of system ram, a cpu with 3 pentium4-like cores, and a gpu with 48 super weak shaders and no dx10 support? i think ill pass. if i wanted something with weak processing power,i could save money by just spending 5euro on a scientific calculator.
Sorry if I came out strong, it's just all too common with people not actually reading these days ;)
(Also, been recuperating from an accident last Saturday that shocked me quite a bit, just don't have much strength right now)
We discussed it back and forth and decided to include the page with the AA, which is so very troublesome for the R600/RV670 architecture.
I do agree it's a strong statement, but I know Jonas stands for it and I can't do much but support him there. He's the one who has done all the testing, and even though I may not agree with all of his points, he still convinced that this is what it should say.
I'm not much of a PC gamer myself, but I do believe his point is that it might be worth dropping the AA down in favor of FPS at high resolution, because the jags are not going to haunt you in the same way they do at lower resolutions. At lower resolution, I do believe we all agree that AA is close to a necessity.
Btw, are you looking at the pictures with a 1920x1200 monitor? Because if you're not the pixelation are going to look much worse than it is at the true resolution.
Again, didn't mean to put you down.

If you love ya Xbox so much for gaming plz leave this forum , no idea what you are doing here then, we are all hardware enthousiasts and we payed way more than 300 euro's for a high end card a few months ago...I payed 400 euro's for the eVGA GTS 512, 530 for the GTX...and if I recall correctly over 290 euro's for your 7900GT. Now I can get a good high end card for 300 euro's... Really man wake up to reality : a pc is more than just a Gfx chip that puts out nice screens... If Nvidia charged us with 500 euro's for a 5 % improvement whine then , but not at this price level c'mon... that's just silly...
What do you want to achieve with ya post ? don't even know why I even replied, seems pretty pointless... as some peeps don't get it at all...
Let's try to keep in mind that street prices for the 8800 GTS are hovering only slightly above 200 after rebate. So I wouldn't go calling its new overclocked and maybe slightly higher binned brother such a "steal".
Can anyone lead me to a review that gets it right by actually comparing an overclocked 8800 GTS 512 (or 8800 GTX) to an overclocked 9800 GTX? After all surely higher binned chips would be the only point to this "upgrade". Otherwise the aging 8800 GTX is still looking mighty sweet.
IMO, you can't compare the price of a newly released product with one which has an MIR and an "instant" rebate. As of yet we have not seen what the sale prices on these new GTX cards will be in a week or two. Right now the prices are higher than "normal" due to the fact this is release day and the retailers LOVE taking advantage of the early adopters.
Believe it or not, the 8800 Ultra hit $900 when it was released here in Canada. :(
so any reviews with oblivion? i was going to buy a 3870x2 for it but since this is cheaper then it makes sence to go for it .... but a test would be nice ;)

but it also means that there will be ongoing driver support for these cards. They won't die off like the 7950's did
and also prob means 256bit will be the norm for a few more years, on the six year eve of the Parhelia. Don't say there is no result from this, the fact that the 9800GTX barely squeaks by the 8800GTX is proof undeniable. Think of how your GX2 would have performed with a wider bus. God knows there was enough room on the pcb for it and prob in its pricetag too.
Now I do know why Nvidia decided to launch this card on April's Fool day. It comes with a message: It's a joke.
Apart from the extra SLi finger what has changed?
Will current GT/GTS G92 coolers/blocks fit?
Will 9800 GTX BIOSes work on 8800 G92 GTS?
What is the max voltage is it still 1.15?
That extra "finger" you talk about has zero traces going to it as you can see here:
LINK
So, I think it is just for protection like the other two extreme edges of the PCB around the connector.
Full coverage blocks...no. As for coolers and non full coverage blocks; I had no problem installing an HR-03 GT as you can see here:
HR-03 GT on 9800GTX w/performance results
Performed bloody well too if you ask me...
Compared to what? It performed about the same as an overclocked 8800GTS 512 and often worse than the 8800GTX or Ultra that it supposedly replaces. So far the overclocking reports have not been consistently better than an 8800GTS and are sometimes worse. And the memory advantage is barely noticeable in the real world. It seems that the GPU is not even a higher bin than the 8800GTS. The rumours of additional overclocking headroom seem to be mostly wishful thinking.Quote:

I think he was referring to the performance of the HR-03 GT on the card.
