I think Nvidia is just trying out the new 65nm proces until the release a new series. And by doing so just squeeze as much money out of the g80 design.
hmmm not much improvement from 8800GTX :(
This is crap and 9800GTS not supporting 3-way sli
They are raping the customers :shakes:
Luckily there is not that much time to the R700 and G100 ( or what that codename was again??) launch
I'm 100% sure that they're just sitting on their real next gen stuff until it's actually needed in the market, in the economic sense.
I thing that the 9800GTX its a big fake......Theirs no "revolution" in this card like was 8800GTX.......
Maybe need to wait the G100 series.......
From what i saw so far, my GTX its going to last for few more months until NVIDIA or ATI/AMD show me something that is worth it to replace GTX.
Competition as in performance is what ATi can't offer - without Crossfir, that's the problem. Performance per $ is has never been what drives high-end. Unfortunately, performance-wise ATi has been completely stagnant since R600 launched so nV has no reason to push anything innovative (= expensive) out because there's no competition even for the 1½ year old 8800GTX.
can decide what to get after my 7800gtx hate this
Well technically Intel have shown that customers dont care how the performance is generated, as long as its there. (dual-die quads)
The 3870X2 is the king of the hill. The GTS and GTX cant compete, and even if the GX2 wins in every single bench, it looks like it will be 40%+ more expensive, which makes it a shallow victory?
Well at least its a got a black PCB, i wanted to have Watercooled 8800Ultra SLI but proved to expensive so hopefully this if price is right will look very slick and be appealing in performence if OC's well
Yeah, we can say that 8800Ultra is the king, but AGAIN, who cares? Just because Nvidia has these "Act of desperation"-type of cards no one has, it doesn't mean that Nvidia is the king. Well, right now it is for sure, but just see any ATI card thread "But but Nvidia is teh king with 8800 Ultra lol its gtx almost 2 yrs old and ati can't compete im happy I bought the gtx lol!". It's like people look at what K|ngp|n benches with and decide the "side" by looking at top5 3Dmark scores (cherry-picked cards and CPUs and almost free LN2 for the skills!).
Same applies to ATI aswell, though it seems it has none of these "Take the crown!" cards. Something to compare is Intel EE's and AMD FX's.
What I want people to realize is that 8800Ultra etc. are just for the PR. It really seems people think that "Umg 8800 Ultra Nvidia > ati lol!" "FX-57 SuperPI AMD > intel lohl".
And no, I got no external ATI cards here, but 4 Nvidias. And yes, G80&G92 are great. ;)
im a little disgusted on this re spinning of the 92 on all the ranges the only difference has been 96 so far its taking the piss how many times can you re release a card with small clock changes?

interesting take on the 3870 vs Nvidia's offering

mention of g98 anyone have a clue or is that the name given to the g92 refresh?
well, if they incorporate new AA modes into the 9800gtx, it will easily be better than the ultra. thats a big if though.
I am kinda confused, som say 8800ultra/gtx is still the performance crowned king and some say that the 3870x2 is the top dog, what gives?
when the r600(2900xt) came out many sites said that it was as good as the 8800gtx maybe loosing out max 5fps. now people say like that the 8800gtx/ultra is like double the power of a 3870 card.
Please, PLEASE noone buy this card. This kinda crap can't be tolerated. Get an 8800 series if you must go with Nvidia, they will still be around for a little while.
Actually its size is equal to the 8800GTX... look closely, the slot plates are removed on the 8800GTX (the part where the screws go to attach it to the case)
Look at the PCI Express parts, they're lined up exactly...
About the 8800GTS 512... it's got the same specs, no need to upgrade for me anyway...
like i said before this is great news the 8800 prices will go down and i will be able to buy two more for some tri sli for close to the same price as a single 9800 gtx
The 9800GTX shouldn't be too expensive I reckon... Tri-SLi is nice but there are just a handful of people using that I guess...
it seems like nvidia is trying to force people into buying many slow video cards together with sli mainboards. they keep on surprising me with ever new ways of milking the customer.
when i still had nv stocks that was easier to accept :D
its just another 8800gts. i think all nvidia has against next gen ati, is a higher clocked g92 with 512bit mem interface.
will i make it for my europe-stepup for a 9 series card? 20 step up days left..
