@lowtcell. I have the xeon version of you CPU and am interested in seeing your other vcores for your 8.5x435. What are they (VTT, NB, etc.) Also, are you using GTL's or not?

For 435x8.5 all voltages were set to auto. Only changed Vcore to 1.350 and RAM to 2.02. Tried raising NB, PLL, FSB Termination, etc. 436+ and no go. Board will post and will go through RAID detection, and just goes blackscreen from there. I had no trouble booting Q6600 @ 440x9, so I don't know where the problem is. Also, it won't post with RAM @ 1:1 like it did in other CPUs I had in there, so I think maybe BIOS not 100% ready for these yet
right but what are you current levels for:
NB=
PLL=
FSB Term=
etc.
For 8.5x400 on my system for example:
266/667 MHz Strap
CPU Vcc=1.12500
NB Core=1.370
CPU VTT=1.310
2x 2Gb @ 5-5-5-15 (performance level 6) @ 1,000 MHz (4:5) @ 2.100V
What is the better board for a Q9550 or E8500, X48 (looking at DFI) or 790i (evga)? It will be on phase, so it will be pushed alittle. I'm not trying to start a war, it's just that I can't determine what board I want. What board is more stable with the 45mn chips? I don't care about SLI or crossfire (one run one card anyhow), I just want a good, solid, and stable board. If you have anyother ideas, I'll look into them too. Thanks and sorry for the hijack.
Expensive indeed. Good luck with it.
@sh - DFI = good, solid, and stable. I have the LT P35-T2R and love it. I can't speak for the X38 or X48 but the BIOS is very intelligently laid out and easy to use once you know what all the options do.
I'm also getting fsb wall at 450MHz, that's the max i can go (can go a little higher but not stable), but i just can't get it to past prime 95 for more than just 8min, even at 1.45vcore (around 1.43v actually).
Didn't have much time to play with it yet.
Can you tell us your voltages? NB, FSB voltage, and so on...
Thanks. :D
Btw, mobo -> maximus extreme here.
Highest I can get mine to and stable is 448 fsb x 8.5, with 1.4 vcore in bios (1.37 actual). My vdroop brings my vcore down to 1.30v under load. My real volts with everest are...
vcore- 1.37v
NB- 1.47v
SB- 1.09v
FSB- 1.30v
RAM- 2.06v

Highest I have ever seen while gaming is 53c on my cpu. Idles around 40. Thats still way under overheating temps, im not even close. Because its running this cool, I have put off water cooling till next year.
Just curious what I can do to pass a prime test. Right now I only get about 20 minutes before 1 core fails. I can pass an occt 1 hour mixed test but i wanted to try and get as stable as possible and save my bios and leave it. Currently at 450fsb and 8.5x multi. Heres my current volts....

There are new 65Watt Quads due soon, probably be called GO Stepping's (my guess).
A Q9550e and followed by a Q9450e.
Raised the FSB up 2 in the bios. Still getting a failed core.
