Man I just installed 169.39 yesterday. Any reason should I install this driver instead?
I have a xfx 8800 ultra XXX editon card (675/1667/2300) but every dam driver I try gives me that stupid error about display drivers failing or whatever and then recovers in windows vista 32 and then followed by a BSOD, except for the Omega 169.25 drivers.
So does anyone know if these new drivers have fixed that annoying issue in windows vista which by the way I think effects many 8800 gtx/ultra users ?
I used to have that problem. Some say it is related to improper ram timings. How, I do not know, but try that.
used these in vista 64 with rivatuner 2.06 with dynamic fan speed control and clocked to 700/1750/1000 and cod 4 rocked all night.
any difference between 169.25?
Ok am i going insane or are these drivers really sharp (everything looks clear = best IQ i've seen with drivers). Also colours seem more vibrant. Again is it just me? (I was playing on my MAME cab which is lower res, but i was on the comp before i installed these nad could see a difference)
GOW works the best i've seen with these, cyrsis, couldn't really see a whole lot of difference other than the better IQ (sharp and colours). COD 4 can't really tell (fps GTX so very high anyway) again looks better, same goes with tf2 and HL2. These have the best IQ i've come across.
Compared to 169.25 omega + Vista 32bit SP1 + 8800GTX. Def sticking with these and FINALLY can get off 169.25.
Some1 reported this driver even force AA2X despite using performance setting so if you notice unusually crisp image quality that may be it.
I also thought colors were unusually vibrant so it's not only you.
Not sure if this has just happened with this release, but theres now a Pre Render Limit' option in control panel which I haven't seen avaliable since XP & the Old Control Panel:)
what exactly does that do and is there a benefit to changing it ?
Pre render limit has been changable in Rivatuner all the time and I used to set it to '0' with my 7900GTO since I'm not usually using vsync which caused FPS to skyrocket into 1000+ range in some simple menus and some animated scenes etc. and this caused my card to squeek with a high pitched noise which seems to happen also with this 8800GT but in a lot smaller scale and only barely audible in some games. Default is 3 but setting it to 0 reduced the FPS significantly in these scenes making this noise to almost dissappear completely for me. 3D performance wasn't really affected a lot by it, setting it to 0 did affect performance negatively but we're talking perhaps 2~3% or so tops so nothing to worry about, you can also check with 3DMark for example it will lower scores a bit. But some games like Oblivion they even suggest using '0' reading a performance optimization guide so some games may behave differently. It's also said to reduce mouse lag when lowering it but I haven't really experienced any severe mouse lag here so I can't comment on that. How it actually works I don't know though.
Mine says I don't have an 32-bit systems, when I have Vista Ultimate 32-bit installed, maybe because I have a portuguese systems instead on an english one?
