Had a little birthday party to plan/attend/host before I could get started on putting the computer back together.
My son's first Birthday!

Had too much cake, but the sugar helped me get started on putting together the case.
Used the tapered M3 socket heads in place of rivets where I could.

From the inside, you see how the domeheads really come into play. . .

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans022.jpg
put in my front port and pc'd the logo (looks more stealth this way)
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans023.jpg
sleeved the front port cables (just to give you a taste of the what's coming on the sleeves)
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans024.jpg
wasn't too happy when I saw this, but at this point there's nothing I could do (no, that's not a fingerprint, it's permanent -bad powdercoaters! )
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans035.jpg
but, let's leave the anger behind, and see how the back turned out with those M3 Socket Heads (YUMMY!)

A little action from the front section

Before the mobo tray is installed (couldn't get to that yet)

Are you ready to play spot the mistake??? I'm going to show you a picture, and it wasn't until I was editing it, that I realized I forgot to do something important BEFORE it was pc'd
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...r/logans34.jpg
I won't tell you what the answer is, I'll leave you guessing for a day or two, but it's such a noob mistake!
Anyway, that's it for now, but I'll leave with a sneak peak of the next mini project I have going on for this case. . .
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans015.jpg
you didnt drill the holes for the radiator/fans LOL
is that a carrot cake? I want some :) yum yum, looks very nice! black theme is always my favorite but it would be nice if you can mix with other colors instead just plain black! looking forward to see some more pics!!!
I'm wondering also if he shouldn't have done something to ensure an optical drive will still fit in the bay after the powdercoating. It's already fairly snug when stock, the additional paint there may end up getting scraped off.
In any case, both problems can be corrected and shouldn't be terribly visible (if at all) from the outside of the case. It's looking great, and your pictures are very, very good. Keep up the good work!
that powdercoat looks sweet, i love black interiors
damn 4got to drill the holes...
that sucksss. its ok though
if you don't mind me asking, how much did u pay for the powder coating?
Really nice work going on here m8. Good to see some more Swedes buildings these kind of nice rigs.
I can agree with you about sifvert, they have a good range of products, though they are a bit expensive. I think for personal use like this, they add like 90% to the cost of the bolts / screws, so, they are a bit pricy :)
Interesting powder-coat, please send me a PM if you feel like it, would like to know how you got the pieces coated :)
I like where you're going with this; subscribed!
Oh, and will the side panels still fit on after you put in the new screws and with the powdercoating? They are pretty snug against the rivets on my case.
@mattc, Xilikon, - yupp, that was the answer. haha. I'm sure I'll find a couple more along the way.
@64dragon - way, waaaaayyy too much. I spent a long time on the phone looking for someone to take me serious about pc'ing the computer, and after reading how most ppl on this forum seem to get it done for a 6 pack or equivalent is beyond me. I paid too much 1000kr (don't forget our 25%tax) = $155 , only plus was it was for everything, inside, out and extra pieces. I think the guy felt guilty taking that much money, so he told me I could get a couple more pieces done at no cost).
@nysoo - I'll shoot you a pm with the name of the company after work, if I remember correctly, you're 08'are oxo? IAF, look at first post, I dismanteled the chassi completely.
@technodanvan - no worries, it fits.
@headala - yupp, np!
@crazyjoe - right! Now I just need to learn how to wire LED's. . . .
Good Job, Looks really nice. I love black interiors, I also got my cheapo (TJ05 alike) PCed for merely Rs.200 (<$5).
Here's a picture.

PS: Happy Birthday to your Son, that cake looks tasty :slobber:
Looks like an apple G5 tower case...
EDIT:Forget anything else i said i feel stupid
Using the psu duct, LR? Figured that might be one of the extra PC'd parts.
PM, if you decide you need any black rivets.
Congrats on Grattis making the big twelve months!
Am I the only one thinking that painjob doesn't look like powdercoat? It looks like normal sparyed paint :/
But the project is looking good, I'm following this closely as I'm about to rearrange my watercooling in my PC101B :)
i like the updates....
happy birthday to your son...
Try this site - http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz
Just check the box for "wiring diagram" and then type in the Volts, Forward Voltage, Forward Current, and number of LED's in your loop. ( The LED's technical information should be on the site you bought them from )
And a full wiring schematic / diagram is displayed ... excellent site !
Thanks man, apriciate it. Yeah, i'm a 08 också so that's quite nice. Btw, do you know anyone in stockholm selling regular 2mm aluminium sheet?
Yeah, nice to hear bout' your son, Congratz :)
Edit: It's really not ideal to live in Sweden it seems when it comes to modding. I mean, 1k kr för so small parts? And also there is not anyone at all selling decent watercooling products here. Gotta move to the US :D At least our health care is good ;D
LOL, Grattis is not the name :D:D:D:, Grattis means "Congratz", you know "Gratz" =~"Grattis" :D
Ya, the finish isn't high gloss, it's semi, and that's what I wanted. I know that the color may not be what you ahve seen before (I mean finish), but there is a HUGE difference in the durability and smoothness to the finish that would be harder and more time consuming for me to do myself. MAy not show in the pics so much, but it's PC'd, trust me.
"Grattis" = "Congratulations" My son's name is actually Logan. ;)
Thanks for all the well wishes and comments!
Small update -
In waiting for some final parts to come in (from a small boat in China), I thought I would do what I could with the peripheral stuff.
Today I go around to the DVD stealth, and the Mobo heat pipe mod (both are accredited to various members here)
mobo(shots aren't the best, but you get it) :
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...ogans043-1.jpg
All screws had been changed out to brass to match the heatsinks, plus shortened, tightened down and applied with new pads
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...ogans042-1.jpg
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...ogans044-1.jpg
DVD stealth (incomplete, waiting on faceplate):
I've always liked the look of the stealthed drive, and I knew I'd want to do this mod as well. I haven't decided on what's going to cover it, as I'm not sure what's going in the front of the case yet.
I'm a total nab when it comes to electrical stuff, so my solder job is far far far from good, but it got the job done. I know that I want to move the button to the bottom of one of the doors, so I felt inspired by another mod I had seen, and looked for the connector piece that he had used. and would you know it, I found it locally, same unit!
insert laugh track here
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans011.jpg
needed some crimp connectors
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans014.jpg
to get here
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans015.jpg
to see if it worked with the button
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans013.jpg
I needed to do the psu mod (geez these pics were blurry)
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans012.jpg
It worked, LED and all! I cut out the LED from the front panel, so I could use the one on the Bulgin, and then I drilled a hole out the back panel to hide the wires and make it look 'factory'. And so we have a finished dvd.
Not really.
I thought, ok, I have this cool mod, but ugly ass case which will look out of place in the black interior.
SO I took the covers off the DVD, and did a light sandpappering with 1500 grit
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans068.jpg
talked to my friend here
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans067.jpg
borrowed the wife's morning paper (look, Tito got 2 years LOL)
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans065.jpg
did 3 coats with some light sanding with 2000 grit
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans063.jpg
Here's where I got the connector I mentioned earlier, it's a 4 pin connector (2 LED, 2 PWR)
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans066.jpg
sleeved the wiring and did a little shrinking
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans062.jpg
I think it came out allright
http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../logans061.jpg
So know I have some other little stuff to do, before I get to the WC bit. But I have a question first, I know I've seen recently someone take the pin off the DDC3,2 and wire it into a single 3 pin connector, but why? What's that blue cable for anyway? I might have to do this, because it's a cleaner connection.
And then after seeing the countless Murderbox copies with the PSU sleeving (and really getting most inspired by Mekrel), I'm going to try that too. It'll either end in disaster, or look really nice. I'm hoping for the former.
Wow man, nice work on the sleeving there!
Just a question, where did you get that shrinking tube? Looks like it has great great shrinking capacity. Elfa? What article number?
Thanks
Great job on that mod man!
