Copper is a fairly soft metal. The grooves appear to be from being mounted previously. Not a big deal if it's flat within the grooved area.

 Can't wait. if only they made TRUE with HDT :(
Spawne, do you think you can do a direct comparison with TRUE VS S1283?
any updates? People are waiting!! =D
Yup me too anxiously waiting for your green signal.:)
Spawne32: Still waiting for your verdict..:(
Im sorry pain killer, been very busy, i do have the red scorpion, its sitting about a foot and a half above my head, had a few busy weeks, had to get a new exhaust and tires put on my car and now it needs a wheel alignment and control arm bushings XD Ill try to get some preliminary results done this weekend.
Also waiting as well. I am going to replace my Enzo Ultra-X. The Enzo just can't handle my Quad very well.
i am highly considering this hs please more info and tests?? hoq qill this fo compared to the ultra?? also is there any real difference between the red scorpion and the reg one other than fan color??
btw: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835124019 identical in every way and a lot less $$$

It looks very nice indeed, but a small performance tweak could have been nice :)

also spawne i saw your review very nice btw.. one thing i see all over the place is that there is no way this will do that closely to the true.. most say its around a mid line as far as temps go. i was considering this one can your tell me honestly this performed really that well? has it been tested again since to get the same type of results?? just curious not doubting your reviews at all just wondering if maybe you got a really nice unit compared to some others..
can this be used with a reg mounting plate or only with the pins? im thinking a mounting plate i have from a previous cooler with some nuts/bolts may help the mountng of it.. thanks again!!
It does fall in around mid line, when you mount it wrong ;) , because of the fact that i rechecked my results 3 times, i had the opportunity to view and test the application of the thermal paste. I obtained the best results you see in the HS Showdown sticky because i used a line method for that particular sink. Why? Well because the base has those large grooves in it, it didnt allow the thermal paste to expand when using the dot method that alot of thermal paste companys recommend.
As far as using a backplate, Thermalrights LGA775 backplate kit, i will get you accurate results on that today.
please do im looking foward to it.. thanks for all the work you've done
Spawne32: I have placed order for Red scorpion. Are its mounting LGA775 push pins enough to tighten it or should I order Thermalright blackplate kit seperately to mount it.
can you tell ma please is the red scorpion any better than the reg one?? and is the kingwin really the exact same thing (every where i read online says it a identical twin in every way shape and form??) can you tell me your thoughts on that one since after rebates its only 25$?? thanks
