I wonder if this eVGA 8800gts I just ordered is affected...
Your "BSODs and memory dumps" (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=168319) just sounds like you were having hardware compatibility issues, nothing more.
now not to start or add to flase rampant gossip...my evga 88gts was giving arti's at stock mem speeds, downclocking did help.
one day later it got worse so....
back to newegg for rma cus i dont need a beat from the getgo card.
but one bad card out of a few 1000 is bound to happen
and not for nothing i had three of the first 79gt's at the time, all fine to this day so....crap happens
My GT has been happily running it's ram @1000MHz since the day the GTs launched. No problems with it here.
I think one problems with people having issues with artifacts is heat. IMO you don't want to have a cooler that uses the same heatsink to cool the core as you do the ram ICs, ex; the stock cooler. All it does is probably introduce more heat to the IC's. Since moving from the stock cooler, to ND-1, then to VF900, my card has gotten higher overclocks and is much more stable then w/ the coolers that share the heatsink w/ core and ram.
yea, this card truly shines under water :)
Ok guys and gals...If any has returned /RMA'd GT /GTS due to D.O.A/ pixeling / slowly dying after Heavy 3D use ..Please feel free to post give coment..If there is no such problem..this thread will be fizzeled out in a few weeks maybe less from people not posting failed cards or experiances:yepp: ..
I dont post to just have a post...
I post to help others as they help me...
I feel i have valid cause to be concerned and have read many post on the New Nvidia Cards ...GT256mb/GT512mb/GTS512mb..In which the memory has been failing and or other related problems . This on more than just some cards at stock clocks .Even putting the slightest Oc on the memory can make it a dead card..
The Shader and GPU can handle a Huge Oc in stock form....The memory on the other hand can not!..If you use a real good cooler or W/B the memory can still fail real easy even if it seems stable @2200mhz...Its obviousely not ment to go Over even 1900mhz let alone 2000mhz+ which is really sad...I dont know what cause it to fail if its heat build up or something other . This happens even with stock clocks....Seems no one can get to the bottom of it..No one wants to comment how many have the issue or if it 100% related to the memory....The best response so far from a near by retailor .." Wow another one " I coulda ouched the Kid upside the head..It was Like he already knew what the problem was before i told him....
I really did not want to move up from a GTS320 , a generation of Video card which i have never ,ever, seen this failure with including the 8600 line!...Theres a lot of us overclocking and you do not see this failure from any other CARDS period....ATI runs smooth as silk @2200mhz-2300mhz..
I only buy Nvidia for Gaming and I also use Ati cards for non gaming systems..No offense to ATi intended , Ati cards run my non gaming Pc's 100% reliable .Is there a problem with something...Yes! If there wasnt you wouldnt see people posting ,"oh recieved dead card," or "my card fizzled out @stock clocks should i RMA?", is this normal maybe...For the Volume of cards sold ? I would expect a certain amount to fail. Makes sense right?
I honestly believe we are seeing way too much of "My new GT/GTS has pixels or slowly died out/I guess i will have to RMA/return it!" I have already returned Failed cards,,friends included in the last couple of weeks.. Trust me, Id rather be typing on ,"How High my NEW GTS scores!". Instead ive been more concerned about the card being stressed to much while i game..Ive never ,ever, gone there with the old 8800 line up! I could torture those cards with insane volts high clocks and even throw em around some and they still benched like King.I mean ,come on NVIDIA that was even a first gen 8800. I even have a failed 8800GTS320 got zapped in a power outage,, im doing CPR on the 320 so i can torture it some more! Why because they are worth putting back together:up:
My whole reason for making this post is that people need to be aware of what some of these new cards are doing!
So, "Please", dont "DOWNCLOCK" the Stock Videocard . This wont make it stable if you by chance happen to recieve a bad one! Exchange or RMA the product....This way the manufacture can look it over and fix the Fricken problem! You will see lots of stable cards out there no matter what ,in regards of the volume sold . Other people incuding Me are getting cards replaced because of an issue people say dosn't Exist.
"If this was true ,people would not be posting slowly dying cards or dead cards or pixelated screens as much." Despite the volume of cards sold!
I know drivers can cause some graphical problems, this isnt just some graphical problem.
Note: Drivers are one thing but a card that works one day and slowly fizzles out the next ,is not the Driver! At first i thought it could be a driver issue ,after reading post after post of people installing and reinstalling drivers and having to send the card back makes me think other wise. The fact that once the card dies or has to be underclocked to work@stock settings, its as good as 100%DEAD.The first gen 8800 had driver issues and BSOD's but not this problem in which me and others are experiancing. For card reliability ,I wouldnt run memory at a HIgh Oc for long period of time.
P.s. I expect failed cards on a new line .I cant even find a memory issue with ATI/competitor ,they have Insane Overclocks . Why are cards dying or having bad memory instability with in days of running .No other lines of Nvidia do this not even the Old First Gen 8800's. The GT/GTScards are increadibly fast when you get a keeper. I just want better //working NEW VideoCards for YOU and Me .We are buying products that are "Praised #1" in the Gaming Industry. I do care about what i buy and how it performs out of the box!
Thank You All
!gOtVoltage!
Was tired when i typed this please excuse the mess!
