ES Yorks and those QX9650 ppl can buy are not the same.
Did you ever see any benches with the final CPU (not ES) on any existing mobo?
I saw benches with ES Yorks on 680i SLI overclocked at X12
They did pretty well.
But this means nothing.
The official status is that existing mobos with Nvidia SLI chipsets won't work with Quad 45nm CPUs.

No, they are the same.

Support of the Yorkfield is NOT a chipset issue. Its a mobo layout issue. If the mobo makers wanted to, they could redesign their current 680i boards to support the Yorkfield. But it won't happen with the 780i coming out.
