Cannot tell from the pictues, are the power connections modular? All or some of them? Also what is the cost of this PSU?
Yeah.. that's why I toned my post down a little (notice the "edited by").
I'm sure there's a language barrier at play here. I have seen a number of PSU reviews in Europe and a couple of them use a bunch of resistors to test PSU's and not an actual ATE to test PSU's.
But it does seem pretentious when you have known PSU reviewers on this board (me, Oklahoma Wolf and Spectre, all North Americans) and he comes in and says "NONE of you know how to test a PSU properly." One would think he's addressing us and not the typical PSU reviewer on his own contintent.
I don't want hard feelings if there are no hard feelings intended.
They are fixed cables. If it was a modular unit, it would be an ST-1200ZAF.
Sorry for keep going with this, but my point is, he never said "NONE of you know how to test a PSU properly.", he said "NONE of you who......", meaning that none of those who folow that wrong procedure are employing an correct method. Thats what i understood from his post. Hipro5 is an smart guy, so i assume he knows that there are a few proper reviewers...
Anyway, Im eager to see results from you Jonny, i wonder whats different with these units :)
Coooooooool. How much will it cost? Can't wait for review from the jG team :)
Jonny PLEASE take my words "correctly".....I'm NOT talking about YOU or 2, 3 guys in the WHOLE PLANET that DO KNOW how to review THEIR SUBJECT......
I'm talking about THOUSAND PSU reviewers out there who take a PSU to review it, picture it, put in onto a computer and the "best of them", measure it's rails with a multimeter (though 90%+ of them use the hardware monitor of the motherboard) of them and that's it..... ;)
There is a BIG difference I think.......That's why I could say that they are NOT REVIEWING it but "Pre-viewing" it (if this the right word)....:)
Though you can't accuse them too, coz they do what they can....:yepp:
:p: :D
All these things we are talking about with Jonny, are "details" that a "normal user" doesn't CARE about.... ;)
A normal user cares - as you said - IF his PSU can handle his load, can handle his overclock, can handle everything he has so to be sure that what is "cutting" him, it's not his PSU....
IF you can provide him a powerfull PSU that can handle everything he has, he's OK.....He doesn't want for more and he just doesn't care for more or what is the make of the internal capacitor, what brand, etc......These things MUST be cared off the manufacturer and not the user..... ;)
We give 3 years warranty for our product with immediate replacement and WE PAY HIS shipping (RMA unit) from HIM to US and from US to HIM again......WHO else does such a thing?...... ;)
.
Yes THAT'S the POINT......You see, I started as a "user" too before I come into computer bussiness and I know the feeling of the "user" whose hardware part don't work anymore and got damaged.....WHY HE has to pay the shipping from HIM to the company?......He didn't do anything wrong!.....He just bought a product.....He paid his money and he wants this product to work AT LEAST untill the expiration of his warranty......WHY pay MORE for it (for shipping).....It's NOT his fault.....No?.... :)
George, i would be interested to know price for these units. I might have recommend resellers this power supply if you really have this RMA warranty replacement. Only releller that do have good RMA warranty replacement here is OCZ. But Seventeam PSU's are way more solid than FSP.
One recommendation for this PSU is that you would better go with standard power plug. really, if power cord fails, or you have incompatible wallet, you're stuck.
I really would like to test it, but i have only very good bench multimeter M9803R, and i do not have oscilloscope or load tester yet. I'm planning to make self made load tester from resistors. At shop i have lots of hardware to torture it. But i would really like to see review from Jonny's crew, as Jonny can't do PSU reviews anymore :(
Hey hipro5, will you be making any lower-wattage units for the budget conscious like myself such as a 600-750w?
Oh I would be happy to take a look at one and see if I can do it right.
Unfortuantely, SevenTeam won't do this. This is one reason they fell out of favor with Ultra for higher wattage units. SevenTeam claimed they would accept no responsibility for incidental damage or any primary failures, etc. if they had to switch the AC input to the more recognized PC power cord.
Why are they using that weird plug anyway....?
I think Ultra's 1600w PSU draws 20A @ 115v when at full load, so it needs that plug.
I dont see how a 1200w PSU would need it though.
The andyson built X3 1600w doesn't draw 20A exactly:
http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?...hlbnRodXNpYXN0
But it does have the 20A plug because it can draw more than 15A.
If you boy's ever make another model, JohnnyGURU has yet to have a tier 1 PSU that is Modular, or Semi-Modular.
I think the market is ripe for one myself?
I went for a Tier 2 that was!
Where and how much ??:)
oh Awesome Dude
Hipro what is the price of one of this units?
Yes I think that I had to (how do you call it now?)....ahhh....to "ephasize" (if I write it well :D ) for whom I was talking about.....:)
Don't worry M8 about the measurings.....I assure you that EVERY PSU comes in here, is "tortured hard" before it "goes out there".....;)
Why the "standard" power plug".... I have seen "melted" AC input plugs (115VAC) with the "small standard power plugs"......So to avoid such things, it's WAY BETTER this plug (though 230VAC users will not encode such problems).......
PLUS we put TWO POWER CORDS into one PSU.....Why?.....
Let's say that you - who have the PSU - have gone to your friend's house to bench with him and you took your PSU with you......
After benching, you take back your PSU BUT you forget the power cord of it at your friend's house.....:( ......hipro-tech have ALREADY thought about that :D and we put TWO power cords into the box so when you go back home, you'll have the "backup" one till you re-get yours....... :D
Yes.......an 750Watts.....:)
When we are ready, I'll drop you a PM if you want....and compare THIS PSU with the Seventeam one if you wish..... ;)
Price will be ~ like all 1200Watts and depends of caurse on the country and their VAT.... ;)
Outside Hellas, there will be placed a "cuppon" INTO the box of the PSU.....Whoever buys this PSU, KEEP this "couppon" for future usage..... ;)
