boinc on linux - with (k)ubuntu

I use Sensors-Applet to read Temperatures(Gnome panel), fan speed, voltages etc...The only thing missing is the GPU Temperature,no problem I can see it under the nvidia-settings.Here is a SS:http://img479.imageshack.us/img479/9...adatelaqt8.png

It looks like you need to wait until the gnome sensors applet supports the nvidia driver. the only tool i know that supports these is "kima" which is an kde app. But you could drop the Sensors-Applet developers a mail, or do a feature request ;)

Sorry for reviving this thread, but theres a important update for people using Ubuntu, Kubuntu 7.10 (If not all other debian-based)and downloaded boinc-client and boinc-manager from repositories(Synaptic, Adept).Some people cant receive updates from WCG server, so no works to do.this is the common error message:
Scheduler request failed: problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)
This is a known problem with some ported BOINC releases, especially certain Linux x64 ports. The reason for the error is that a file (ca-bundle.crt) was omitted from the release.If you see this error message in your message log, then you probably need to apply this fix.

Determine your BOINC data directory. Check the beginning of your message log. There will be a line near the beginning like this:

08/06/2007 13:18:00||Data directory: /var/lib/boinc-client
Download the missing file. - make sure you name the file ca-bundle.crt.
Place the file in your BOINC data directory.
Restart BOINC.
Done. :)

I'm trying to install BOINC from the .sh files onto my Ubuntu install, since I wanted to update from what's in the deb repositories to the "latest" linux release. So I downloaded the latest .sh file from the Berkly download page, and do the usual

to extract the files, cd into the BOINC directory, and then run

It starts running, and gets part way through it's test, and then fails with:

Any idea what this error is, and how to fix it? The box is:
P4 1.7 Ghz
512mb RAM
An old Gigabyte Socket 478 board
Riva TNT2 64mb (old skewl :p:)
It's currently running headless/keyboardless, being accessed by Remote Desktop and UltraVNC viewer.

And when starting Boinc, I'm getting the same error message.

Could it be that running the computer without a monitor is causing issues?

Edit 2: Never mind, I just restarted the box (auto log-in FTW), and I've got Boinc 5.10.28 working from the .sh files.

by the way: i'm using debian sid (sidux to be honest), installed boinc via apt, added my ID and since then let it crunch its daemonic way through the virus sludge without bothering me or my free RAM...well, not that kind of a problem with debian, but it's always nice to know :up:

Does anybody know how to integrate BOINC with a Live image? I managed to kill one of my hard drives over the week, and so I need to just use a Live image on a USB stick, but that means I need to reinstall it every time it gets shut down.
