This game is another in the line of NFS speed jokes. Cars still look like toys compaired to GT or PGR, and racing feels comepletely unrealistic. I know this is supposed to be arcadish (because god forbid us PC gamers get a racing sim thats not 4 year behind graphics wise on release day) but can't they even try?!
Eh, atleast the FPS is there.. No suprise as this honestly looks no better than Most Wanted two years ago.
first of all this is not console port!
Today AAA titles like this one are developd on multiplatform framework. So basicaly developers don't write games for consoles, and then rewrite them for PC.
Second, NFS 11 has a excelent Dual Core optimisation:
this is when AI kick in in with assistence (basicaly when you are trying to get back on first place)

And little less CPU load when you are the first:

All in all very nice racing arcade...
If it didn't have multi-core support, it wouldn't even be an X360 game... It has 3 cores, so naturally, it will have multi-core support....
And if this wasn't developed for consoles, take another bloody look... Just the menus give it away... You've got horrible keyboard-support, even steering-wheels work like shiet, as though it was slapped on because they had to for the PC...
You've got graphics and physics which by today's PC-standards are completely outdated (YES, I went there, PCs are so much more powerful than consoles you simply don't compare the two in terms of power anymore), and compared to other, better programmed racing-games (DiRT being one, GTR2, which is even over a year old, being another), it's utter crap...
This isn't an AAA title, it's more like a BBB/CCC title... It's a run-of-the-mill, assembly-line-made dead-horse-beating load of complete bullocks which would take a complete overhaul by a proper development-team to make worth buying....
Best Regards :toast:
updated the main thread with some more test SPECs:
Drivers: ATI Radeon Catalyst 7.10; NVIDIA Forceware 169.02
Benchamrk: Fraps 2.9.2
As I've allways said:
NFS IS NOT a racing game. It's an action game based on cars.
Go get GTR2, GTL, rFactor or LFS if you want a proper racing game.
My favorite racing game as of recent are Flatout and Flatout 2. Yes, very much an action car based game, but handling kills NFS.
My favorite of all-time is Monster Truck Madness 2.. so many truck/track mods for that game. Wish Flatout 2 was as supported in car/truck/track mods as that was.
Erm... home made? Where did you get that from? Yes, LFS is developed by only three guys but it's used as a base by a number of professional simulators. ISI's rFactor is used as a simulator by F1 team BMW-Sauber. ISI aldo developed EA's F1 and NASCAR games and created and developed the engine (gMotor 1 and 2) used by SimBin's GTR, GTR2 and GTL, which are very successful commercial titles.
Yep, those are niche titles but the race sim community is huge. Just check www.rscnet.org
and there in lies the problem with racers on the PC, they either are made for arcade or straight up racing class sim. Where is our Gran Turismo, or atleast PGR, Forza.. Sega GT.. whatever....
Those are all arcade games. There's no middle ground. A racing game is either arcade (Gran Turismo, Forza, etc.) or try to depict real life as close as possible. The moment a game compromises "real world" physics to make gameplay easier it's no longer a sim. That's how I see it.
i have a GTS in my rig stock clocks with 1680x1050 full details on everything with 8xAA + max filtering and all >> basically all settings turned up and it's smooth as butter.......overclocking the card from 514/796 to 650/950 does nothing to improve it further meaning it isn't even lagging on stock settings
CPU >> E6300@3.3Ghz :D
Too bad the "depict real life as close as possible" does not extend to graphics with racing Sims in comparison to console 'driving simulators'.. That was makes me a little jaded with most sims.
Still, luckily for me my fav genre of specific racing has a great game GTR 2, by far the best feel of any racing game I've played and pretty ok graphics.... Just could use alittle more polish in visuals even a year ago.
ran great on my 1950XTX totally maxed on 1680x1050 (have yet to try AA though) game looks OK racing games normally racers have not the best graphics any ways it looks just as good as any other racer (except for dirt). but to play on a keyboard is impossible. first thing i did was plug in my 360 game pad and had at it. it was pretty fun but they have strayed form what NFS is now it is in some no mans land between SIM racers and Arcade racers. i liked NFS for arcade racers (like carbon and such) but this has taken a half step towards the SIM world so as far as SIMs go it get totally smoked by forza 2 and NFS Carbon still delivers a much more fun Arcade racing experience. so EA should have stuck with the Arcade feel and i might have bought it.
to back this game sucksssssssssssssssssssssssssss
The x1950 pro cannot handle this game, when the 7300gt sli CAN! omg, ea are loosing it....
