Why? This tells me that you don't understand the barrier which the IHS has created and how to lessen the effects of it (bowing and stepping). A flat Apogee and a flat fuzion would perform very similar to the Enzo.

Yeah, actually a completely stock fuzion isn't that far ahead of this. The base and the nozzles really help.
Have you noticed any differences in your ambient to water delta with some of your testing?
I've been tracking this as well as the water/core delta, and starting to see a little difference where my radiator must not be performing as well with the nozzles once I've reduced flow rates too much, probably part of the reason 3.5mm doesn't work as well. It's not a whole lot, but when you start splitting hairs, and one block is .5C better water/core delta, the difference of .5C delta on the ambient/water starts to make you think a little. Maybe this is just more apparent with a weaker pump like the D5.
Well thats kinda the point, they went through all that trouble to make a waterblock and didnt take that stuff into account. So you buy that thing, and unless you are able to mod it to be bowed or stepped, you still have mediocre performance in comparison to the fuzion.
Scott,
Thanks for taking your valuable time to test and report the results. So many of us count on you and others to provide us with data we can understand and use.
Ditto. Thx alot for this info. I know it's very monotonous at times, but your hard work is truly appreciated. Very interesting stuff about bowing. I've noticed it on my Stealth and Apogee GTX. I'm about to ditch my Stealth in favor of the MCW30. By pics I've seen of it, it doesn't look bowed though. Anyone know if it is?
Thanks for all the hard work niksub! Shame it doesn't perform nearly as well as it looks.
Sorry to drag this back up but I have a couple questions.
How do you guys think this will work on a single core (Prescott)?
nik, is there enough material in the base to step this block?
Thanks nik. Kind of realized both questions had answers easily obtainable long after I got to work.
Did you ever settle on a final step size? I know you were thinking 21mm or 22mm square size and about .3mm deep, but I don't recall if anything got finalized.
Thanks so much for your hard work, nikhsub1. You da man. Is it possible to step a block using a file? The stepped part doesn't really touch anything, right?
Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I just received a used Sapphire and while it's overall in good condition I'd like to make sure that the base isn't scratched. Since this block has a flat base and not a bowed one, does that mean it's OK to lap it?
It's not really scratched, more dirty than anything. It just looks like normal wear and tear on the base since the block has been mounted several times by its original owner. Just looks like stuff that won't come off with alcohol and I'd just like to make sure it has a nice polish to it, that's all. Thanks for the answer, looks like it is safe to do so
