is this the first person to hit 5ghz?
my Friend Claims 5ghz was broken in 2002. but i think hes wrong..
That's the first 5 giggy ever on Holicho's site...
C
ln2 or prommy or vapochill, this is just a benchmark. im sure most people who did 1.8v to bench will not run 1.8v 24/7, its just the same.
no matter this is ln2 or prommie cooled or whatever, this 3.2 chip is a supa rare find, try do it with ln2, dry ice or bench in the south pole with a 3.2, thats a almost 2ghz overclock, even the chip died in 1 min, this is the highest clock ever.
More like -130C
exactly...i mean whats the point even if it managed to run 3dmark of having a cpu for a coupple minutes.... :rolleyes:Quote:

EDIT: honestly i dont understand what you guys see in those ln2 scores... what if it was possible to run it for 5min with 3v and ln2 cooling @ lets say 6ghz... whats special about it?
that's just a waste of money...
okeee, it's impressive but what's the big deal???
exactly...
Impressive? why cause you managed to get into windows and take a wincpuid screenshot? please...
wonder if some of this guys actually USE a computer!
intel had a P4 running @4 or 4.5ghz with ln2 cooling on some conference in 2002 i think.
this is the first 5ghz screeny i know of, but i dont really care about that stuff. those numbers are impressive, but far from daily use ocs. those ocs dont show anything...
TAM'S got the same bug we all have to OC our own CPU to the highest stable at a higher priced chip level and get the best benches or for daily use. We are all probably shortening the lives of our chips. It's just that his bug is the challenge of going as high as he can. Admit it, if you all could get just that little more out of your chip you would. Well, it seems like he has the wherewithal, drive, tech knowledge, and mostly money to do what he likes to do. I don't understand why some come to this forum to learn how to go faster, then come down on someone who by all intents and purposes, seems to be holding the WR for the latest fastest chip. I'm sure when the Prescott comes out, we'll see TAM (NOT a JAP, a fellow overclocker) at the top again in short time. I for one would probably try to do the same if I had the money and wife who wouldn't put me into Bellvue Psychiatric Ward for using LN in the house.
Anyway, WTG TAM! Okay, I'm off the 'ole soapbox, for now.:)
Well IMHO one thing is overclocking for daily and real use...other completly diferent is overclock for short time periods just to take screenshots or run x program...
Why? Overclocking is overclocking. The two differences just lie in what each of us want. To come down on somebody for doing something that they get a joy out of, that we all do, just to a different extent, well, I think is wrong. Myabe I'm wrong, maybe I'm not. To be honest, I don't even think of it as wrong or right. Just what makes each of us different and makes this forum and all the others that much better. To take this incredible technology that we take for granted every day, and manipulate it how we see fit, is just awesome. Whatever each of us is doing.
And yes, I have stopped to think, and forgotten to start up again. Usually after a ton of tequilla :toast:
WAY TO FOOOOOOOCKING GO...........THAT IS WAYYY PHATT !!!
Actually, I doubt his cpu died on him. I've seen intel chips take a lot more voltage than that. I think many of you are misinformed about ln2 setups "killing" p4s. You'll actually stand a better chance of killing a cpu by mounting a vapochill onto an AMD. Seriously, look into it. These guys know what they're doing, and certainly they've killed some chips but so have a lot of us. The japanese LN2 scene is very experienced with this, and I know from observation that using LN2 to cool a cpu and then running 40%-60% more volts than default is not gauranteed to kill a chip in a few minutes. How many of you talking about killing cpus with LN2 have actually ever had any experience with it? not many I would imagine. I've seen a p4 submerged into ln2 several times over the course of a week and then tested (the process is called cryo-annealing) and it worked fine. It wouldn't overclock any better but it certainly was not dead. ALL I'm saying is that experienced users with LN2, who have a good test table, containers, etc. generally DON'T kill their cpus, or even their motherboards.
If you think 2.1v for a P4 is good...well...you are SO SO SO wrong...
I ain't saying its the ln2 but THE VOLTAGE that will kill the cpu!
youve seen intel chips take a lot more voltage like that??? where? ive never seen any P4 with more than 2.2v, or do you mean a celeron 300a? :p:Quote:

its pretty sad to see all these people on this forum with negitive comments about a 5ghz overclock..
i mean, if your not impressed then WHY ARE YOU HERE?
Sorry to display such n00bness but I am guessing LN2 is liquid nitrogen of some sort? The 2 part is throwing me for a little bit of a loop. :)
Here Here Dissolved!!! Well said.
Well ill try to to get up to 4 ghz stable when my P4c800-e and
4X 3.2ghz oem chips come in. will do that vmod first.
the 2 is suppose to be a subscript stating that there are 2 bonbed N atoms. N is a diproctic element, so you would not naturally see a single N atom, but 2 chemically bonded N atoms making N2...
On that note chemistry blows!!!! I got a 4 on my ap chem exam, so i am going to have to take it next year at georgia tech. What a crock, i bet i was like 1 point short...did i mention that chemistry BLOWS?!!!
OK...a question....how many of you think OPP runs his computer everyday 24/7 at the same hairy, ragged edge that he uses to get his world record 3dMark runs? Anyone?
I thought not.
I have a hard time swallowing the reaction here myself. This is just another competitive area of overclocking. Not better - not worse. Different. Nobody says it has to be your bag...but why the need to rag on someone for whom it surely brings great enjoyment?
Not to mention is it a hell of an accomplishment!
Ahhhh ok the N2 is just di-nitrogen. That is what I figured but you never know. :)
Anyone have links to sites showing detailed pic's of these guys desktops, containers and set-ups??
C
Yeah, except you would not say dinitrogen, because you never put a prefix such as mono/di/tri/etc on the first part on a chemical name. :DQuote:
