With respect to the pump top/res combo above, couldn't I accomplish the same thing with one of these?

I've got a res sitting above my pump via the 1/4 male-male. It works great.
The only problem I see is that you'd need to move the inlet up a bit, so that during the initial bleeding the pump doesn't suck air back in via bubbles. My res is 8" tall, 2" dia, with inlet at 4" into the side. Fillport on top, and g 1/4 m-m fitting on bottom feeding the DDC.

wow now thats cool... especially the ddc pump idea is really awesome, looks really wicked..
The res expansion looks like a good idea, but I don't think it will sell much.
I mean, what case could fit multiples of those res's ?
The ddc pump idea is a really cool idea
Another vote for the DDC w/res idea.
DDC top and res is a cool idea Eddy. Just will need inlet higher up or some way of stopping it going anywhere near the pumps inelt!
Defo need to stop the vortexing on it as it will suck loads in!
Res would't need to be all that tall as well!

Here is what I was thinking, very simple idea so not worth making a detailed illustration :P
If you are still open to suggestions Eddy what about a top
for a Laing D5. Somethhing you can screw your own barbs in
and a top thats looks good.
A top that would allow 2 res to screw into it, but side by side would be nice.
Id imagine that it would be shaped like an "8" maybe have an option with a channel between them, as well as one without a channel between them (1 sharing liquid, another not sharing)
If the thread is the same size as alphacool's agb's I'll get to of those midle things :)
Yeah that's what I was thinking too...didn't work for alphacool on performance. I was just looking over that thread ..it's quite a bit lower performing than a regular top:(
Maybe this could be improved upon with a different more extended and well radiused inlet?

Glad to know I'm not the only one to not just go " :slobber:, me want one". I would love it if there is a way to cure the performance hit, just not sure how though. The only thing I can think of ATM is to go with a smaller hole that would act like a fitting was in place. That might have been the problem with the Alphacool, the pump was being flooded without a fitting.
Just another :2cents: , Ive noticed that anytime a cylinder res is upright, there is going to be some kind of vortex. I had one in my Asetek res (with a Hydor L30), in a custom res that I never got to work right and apparently both versions of EK's , it's the nature of the beast. Unless some sort of divider is glued to the acrylic itself about 1/4 to 1/2 (heck, maybe even 3/4) way up the res, this is somewhat unlikely to change.
Whoopee! five vortex. Is that a perfect storm?
