Speaking of impure propane...is there any way to synthesize propane in order to get a more refined, more pure gas for our systems? I’m guessing this is a project for a much larger lab but I thought I’d ask anyway…there are a lot of good minds on this forum.
Just buy r290 propane from refrigeration stores, that will be pure.
LPG propane which most people use is about 95% pure, but it's allways worked fine for me.
Not under load for us :/

Were you referring to my post? Maybe your r290 is a propane/butane mix... in which case it would explain poor loaded temps.Quote:

For sure in our applications, but it's far from having the same cooling capacity like R507c, even if pressures are lower. R290 maybe a good refrigerant (according to data on R290 compressors) but propan gaz we find in France in tankstations are far from being pur ^^

No I'm not talking about GPL (LPG for you :p), the blend we put in our car that are called liquid petrol gaz, but propane bottle (13kg) we use here to heat food when we're not using Butane or don't have natural gaz at home :)
