im using some of the goo that came from the stock heatsink to hold my sinks on. and it doesn't work very well. i have no sinks on the back. i have quite a few extras that i might epoxy on, and redo all the others. then i bet the memory will break the 860mhz wall im at.. even with 2.0v on the mem it wouldn't go past what i had with stock 1.8.

do you guys know if the 1950pros have a coldbug? i would only be going to -30c res temp.. chiller on the card and cheap water on the cpu.

This is fun! I have a few things I can use for cooling. i think the easiest would be my thermalright HR-03 Plus with a high CFM 120mm fan and some sinks on the bottom of the card(8800gts) and for the x1950 i have an old mcw50 I can use or a drilled/modded stock cpu heatsink I can bolt on through with some sinks. I also have a VF-900 and fan controller but not sure if that will cut the heat?

You'll need to fit more powerful fan on top of the VF900 to get rid of the heat fast enough if you plan to volt mod it, the VF900 base surface area is rather small.

My card is at 708MHz GPU running folding@home GPU client fully stable 24/7.

715MHz and 722MHz isn't good for 24/7 operation with my current aircooling, just 7 hours stable before it caps out is no good to me at those frequencies.

If I strap on a 92mm 120~CFM Vantec Tornado fan it might very well do the trick, but certainly not practical for running 24/7 considering the loud noise it generates!

I swapped out the small 60mm panaflo fan for a low noise 80mm 20~CFM panaflo, so dual 80mm on the heatsink, might replace the panaflo later for 2x 80mm 47CFM YS-Tech fans.

I ended up getting a x1950xt on newegg for $159 shipped. I figured this was the best deal I couldn't pass.

Just making sure before I do this, to measure the Vgpu, I have to touch both Vgpu points circled in the above picture with the positive and negative leads of my voltmeter right? (cuz usually it's touch poitive point on the video card and another touch a ground on the case) I have a Sapphire X1950GT 512MB btw. Thanks.

So how low did you shaded the resistance to? Did you just shaded it down to 6130ohms? Thanks.

Update: Shaded teh Vgpu resister down to 6100ohms (stock is 6390ohms), it gave me 1.40v. I was able to get the core up to 681 (didn't do the Vmem mod yet, so the mem is still 661). But now it goes up to 81c when I game (up from 75c). I think I'll need to remove the stock fan and put a more powerful fan on.

can anyone direct or link me to the correct resistors for pencilmod on a sapphire 1950pro AGP new revision pcb?

is it like the powercolor where bridging different resistors give different vcores or is it only one resistor that needs to be changed?

does the sapphire 1950gt have the same pcb as the 1950pro AGP?
