is that a 965P C1 or C2 chipset on the P5B Deluxe ?
ah looks like C2... must be C2 better memory controller ???
Printable View
It's a C2.
I don't think C2 is better that C1 for the memory controller
For example : Jmax_oc can do 2x1Go @700+ SuperPi 1M on P965 C1 : Link
I guess my 9200 FlexXLC and P5B Deluxe are average then heh.
Will be a while before I have 965P results so let's some more info about SPD used.
Funny story, if I try it in single channel than I come also max @ 650Mhz
Try'd it with 2 stick in single channel and one by one.
Cant get any higher, and .. got my chip to even 1,8 volt,, doesn't help anything
I Hope my P5W is still working, than maybe I can try it on that MoBo ..
Must do some vmods but that isn't any problem :p:
Can you hit 650Mhz with lower vdimm ?
Some Kit of D9GMH don't have gain in Cas 5 with higher Vdimm than 2.5v
Or May be it's the commando :p
(For Me this Motherboard sucks, I don't like it :p: )
Nice review, looks like good work and a good kit.
What can they do with tighter timings at 600+?
I would expect at least 5-4-4, if not 4-4-3 depending on volts
Eva2000 : Can you share your SPD ? :p:
probably can if i loosened the sub timings I used of 5-22-6-8-A-7-42-A to closer to the default sub timings of the modules
will get around to testing
sorry been asked not to share the OCZ SPD.. hope you understand.
:(
It's a modded SPD ?
...
No the SPD isn't modded AFAIK... just OCZ doesn't want competition to easily see what they did SPD wise. Since these are samples I'd need to abide by there request.
Yoxxy you have pm :)
i still haven't found time to play with my Flex 9200s on the P5N32-E SLI but on my P5B-Dlx, i found that they screemed at CL5 but didn't fair that well at CL4 compared to the goddy numbers put up at CL5.
FWIW, 5-5-5 was Prime stable at 640MHz while 4-4-4 was "only" Prime stable at 540MHz on the P5B-Dlx...both voltages at 2.50v on a maximizer.
i honestly think the only thing holding back higher mem clocks on the P5B-Dlx with my sticks are NB volts as my board is still un-modded.
Looks like folks at Madshrimps.be also discovered with OCZ PC2-9200 FlexXLC on P5B Deluxe to not excel much with CAS4 http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=get...64&articID=529 but CAS5 flies!
So far memtesting on P5B Deluxe and i'm coming to the same conclusion CAS4 is around 544-546mhz 4-4-4-12 at 2.45v but 5-5-4-12 at 2.45v hits 600mhz which is a huge difference!
I'll hook up the maximizer later to get more than 2.45v vdimm.
Great memory ordered a 2nd set for 4gb 2day hope to 1260mhz 4gb in vista!
Hi there,
What is the highest clock with tight timings say for example 4-4-4-12 or 3-3-3-12 as examples?
I decided to move my 2x1GB FlexXLC PC2-9200 modules to Asus P5B Deluxe to confirm whether or not the 2x1GB FlexXLC PC2-9200 kit's CAS4 issues on Asus 680i Striker 0402 bios are motherboard or memory specific. Seems I have no problems with CAS4 on Asus P5B Deluxe up to 540mhz and memtest'd up to 600mhz 5-5-4-12 at 2.45v fine. Does seem that 2x1GB FlexXLC PC2-9200 memory is binned for optimal CAS5 performance rather than CAS4.
System:
- Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 L627A872 B2 Step 6
- Swiftech G4 Storm/Thermochill 120.3/MCP650 + Kayl 100W Custom PSU
- Asus P5B Deluxe 0804 bios (Thermaltake Extreme Spirit II on NB)
- 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI card
- 2x1GB FlexXLC PC2-9200 (cooled with 3x 60x25mm Sunon 23.5cfm MagLev fans sitting on modules)
- 500GB Seagate 7200.10 SATAII
- LiteOn 165H DVD-ROM
- FDD
- 1KW OCZ ProXStream 1000PXS Quad PCI-E psu
540Mhz 4-4-4-12 at 2.45v
&
600Mhz 5-5-4-5 at 2.45v
Let's start with max CAS4 timings and then CAS5. These modules clearly aren't binned for CAS4 performance but rather for higher CAS5 performance.
Even the folks at Madshrimps.be also discovered with OCZ PC2-9200 FlexXLC on P5B Deluxe to not excel much with CAS4 http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=get...64&articID=529 but CAS5 flies! CAS4 topped out at 546mhz versus CAS5 at 640mhz for Madshrimps.be folks!

Does anyone know what chip ocz use for theses sticks!
d9gmh
No idea which micron D9xxx chips are used.. probably D9GMH ... seems to be what's around for 8000+ rated modules from various manufacturers right this moment
george what about 5-4-4-x and 4-5-4-x :toast:
Thanx eva2000 followed your guide for the 680i! Just got mine bk 2day! These sticks are wicked found them hard to set-up thou using 680i!
