Waste of money if your using 3/8" tubing maybe...
@sig: Thanks for asking ;) Yes, everything is fine so far. Just something like the Maxxx-syndrome, too much work and not enough time :(
@bun-bun: Well, but even then the mod top would decrease the noise of the pump. That alone would make sense I'd say. If you're using 3/8" you loose performance anyhow, so with the top it would at least be quiet :D
Well, I think I read your sig like yesterday or so and that kept sticking to my mind somehow ;)
I'd love to have more time for this stuff, do the reviews I had in mind or finish the stuff I promised long time ago, but it just doesn't work out time-wise right now. Has a good side though, as a time consuming job normally means some cash flow :D
That sucks how crap the latest revsion is. I have even modded mine to 18w! Think i might sell them off now and haras Robyn for a new pumps asap
I just did some work for Petra, exact, (well, +/- .001in) geometric measures of the stock DDC tops compared with the DDCT-01s.
We may well see an even better version of his tops. :-)
About that, sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday... things were unexpectedly busy and it would seem that I can't retrieve my e-mail from here (bloody slow, lossy connection). Anyway, I'll be back in San Jose (at the office) in about four hours.
Hopefully the information that you've gathered will be exactly what I'm needing to move forward with the DDCT-02.
I do indeed believe it is. You will be very surprised to see the results I think. I'll attach a couple sections to a PM for ya.
Edit: Scratch that thought, I can't seem to attach any images here. If you can hope over to OCF I think I can attach images in PMs there.
Edit2: Double scratch that thought also, I guess you can't attach images via PM. :-( You'll have to wait til you get back to San Jose. Feel free to ring me up with questions.
Could uploadem to megauploader so he can download it
very nice right up :)
Alex sorry to piss on your fire but i just checked and my DDC is a 3.3 pcb!!
I've sent a indepth e-mail to Robin @ Laing with an excel spread sheet trying to work out what the hell is going on with all the pump names and stuff.
Why do the europeans have to have a differnt name to the US....
I should get soemthign back tomorrow..i hope!
Have attched the doc here. I got that off Robin months ago but i think something is very messy somewhere now
nice doc file
thanks for sharing
Yes, my 18W blue impellered pump also has a v3.3 sticker on the PCB... However, I'm referencing pump model names. The thing that your chart isn't taking into account is that the DDC-1, DDC-2, and DDC-3 series don't share the same motor. This is why there's a large performance difference between the 18W DDC-2 and the 18W DDC-3.2
In short, here's my understanding of what's going on (keep in mind, I'm referencing model numbers... not PR names):
10W DDC-1 & 18W DDC-2, both were available in the US and Europe up until Laing replaced the DDC-1 (black impeller) & DDC-2 (red impeller) with the DDC-3 series (resigned motor and blue impeller). This changeover happened first in Europe because, well, that's where Laing is based.
The DDC-1 and DDC-2 are still available in the US because Laing's US division still has about a 6-month supply left in inventory. Laing's US division seemed to have been caught off guard by the change, amusingly enough. Now they're being pressured to cook up a version of the DDC-3 that has performance equivalent to that of the DDC-2 before they run out.
I've updated the first post! :)
The confusing combination chart is now also shown as two separate charts (splitting the data for the DDC-2 and DDC-3.2)... much easier to read this way. I've also added a chart and commentary for an undervolted RD-30.
Enjoy! :D
How about a red impeller in a 3.2?
edit, and what about the black impeller in the 2 or 3.2?
what about a 9W model with 3/8" tubing and petra top....can any gains in flow rate be expected
Well, seeing as how the blue impeller caused a head pressure increase in the DDC-2, then it's probably safe to assume that putting a red impeller into a DDC-3.2 would further decrease performance.
I haven't done much with the DDC-1 but, judging by some internal data from Laing, you'd likely see a performance decrease all around with that combination.Quote:

Yes, but at the cost of some head pressure (of which the DDC-1 has little to spare).Quote:

Petra, if it's not a problem of IP, can I get a copy of that info on the top measurements? I'm tweaking my pump top to go back on (found my main issue, it was a solid performer on the 9w) and I'm looking to do better in the future.
Also, it would seem that we're working on two different models altogether in our applications. I wonder how the information would relate to each...
Hell broke loose with this post. Now I am confused!
I have a DDC-1 plusT that died yesterday and after I replaced it with a backup up el cheapo Hydor I have I did not notice any difference or measured some in the chipset cooling loop. That has a red impeller.
BUT! I have a DDC PLUS with the Blue impeller (it is the 18w) on a 8800GTX SLI loop and a PA.120.3 and compared to my 3rd DDC with a red impeller on the CPU loop it is much stronger and . This is really apparent by the turbulance in the reservoir (both loops use the same reservoir)
The SLI loop uses 2 Apogees 1U and the CPU loop one Apogee (normal).
So how comes and the newer blue impeller is faster?
I have a fourth one coming too next week so I will see what this does.
OMGWTFBBQ!!!!11111ONEONEELEVEN can you try the RD-30 impeller in the DDC-2? :D
I just spat Kool-Aid.
I'm gonna go to work now, I think I might enjoy the intellectual stimulation of Hardee's after that post.
God bless you nikhsub1 for making me laugh like that.
Unfortunately, that test didn't go so well and I haven't a clue as to why...

Yes, we're going to carry both the RD-20 and the RD-30. At the moment, we're just waiting for the Iwaki rep to clear our credit application and then begins the two week wait for the pumps to get here.Quote:
