Mem manuf cant sell ram RATED for guaranteed PC2-6400 functionality @ specified timings on a Rev. 3.3 Gigabyte mobo that uses a 2.5 multi which gives 833 memfreq PC2-6666 IF it detects a 333 bus CPU - the closest to current 800 @266 bus, which is PC2-6400, marketing hype or not. I think we are going to see a lot of new PC2 ratings, thnx to 333 bus
That can be the only reason for the PC2-6800 nomenclature, nothing else makes sense - heh

i just ordered some cheap 1gig rams with some d9gct im building a 4x4 setup so im going 4 4x512 cause i dont need more than 2 gig, i just found some hynix. debating if i should push the button

I called this one almost 6 months ago if you remember. I betcha this is the same 65nm 7-7-7 ddr2 800 I wanted Mushkin to look at too bad the tarriffs are like ~65% for em. Now we wait for the Samsung 900s... now THAT will be something of legend. Only a month or so to go!

So the bin/Speed ratings you'll find on the IC for these DDR2 Hynix are as follows:

S5 DDR2-800 5-5-5
Y5 DDR2-667 5-5-5
Y4 DDR2-667 4-4-4
C4 DDR2-533 4-4-4
E3 DDR2-400 3-3-3

Too bad about the tariff. Would have been fun to play with, but in the U.S. Twinmos doesn't have a lot of retail partners. Unless the Hynix show up at a nice price I'll wait for the Samsungs 900s Sentinel mentioned. :D

What module brand is that and can you tell me the partnumber?
What clocks can you get out of them at CAS 5 and maybe higher Vdimm?

brand Hynix PC5300 don't know partnumber, i'll see today.
Didn't test CAS5, will try on P5BDelux (b1004)...

i just went out hynix hunting :) found these gonna test them soon you wouldnt believe the amount of d9gct i saw but was all sodimm. i also saw alot of buffalo that looked like d9 but they were marked buffalo so i couldnt take chance any way im going to test them and take em bake cause i payed to much in my mind

when the company puts their logo on them do they change the other info or it stays the same??
i also have some d9gct comming soon

also r00n i believe the all the buffalo ram i saw was micron d9 based on that circle in the corner as it has the biggest one the same like in your pics is that a safe guide to go buy?

That depends. Sometimes manufacturers clear any info on the IC to replace it with their own (given the IC even has a label, which isn't always the case).
In other cases they only add their logo, or simply don't change anything at all.

Another benefit when using heatspreaders is that there's no point in relabeling ICs if you can't see them. Less work, less costs. But that's a whole different story.

GeIL for instance is known for relabeling many of their ICs. This IC, which was used on GeIL Ultra Platinum PC4200, makes a good example:

If you look closely you will notice there's an h in the upperleft corner (just below the 'b' of 'ClubOC.net'). Its shape indicates it's a Hynix IC.
To the right, just above G-35, you can still see the markings of D43. This IC was once labeled as Hynix D43, but now only contains GeIL's info.

There's no telling what will be changed, and it's not always this obvious.
So the best way to determine the origin of a relabeled IC is by looking at the physical properties. Dimension, position and size of the dot(s) if it has any, etc.

Micron D9 also has a little edge visible in the middle of both the left- and rightside. It actually stretches along the bottom, as shown in this picture:

Combined with the well-known dimensions and location and size of the dot it's relatively easy to distinguish a Micron IC from others.

we actually did try hynix DDR2 800 IC half years ago but didn't do so well, can boot with DDR2 1100 CL5 2.1v but only stable @ DDR2 1020 CL5 2.0v. and the price was high....

Same here. We've tried many Hynnix ICs, and non of them were good enough for our TEAM XTREEM line.
I've been calling Hynnix right after this this review and I will update you OCers when I get something (crossing my fingers). :)

haha that's the exact same kind of results I got from my 2x 1gb hynix pc4200 sticks (week 37), they'll do 800mhz cas 4 at 2.1 volts happily and go up to about 925mhz cas 4 at 2.1-2.2 (I forgot to write it down) but they'll pretty much completely stop going faster at around 960mhz.

When they're cheap they're worth it, I paid £70 ish for the pair back when DDR2 had just jumped in price and was going to sell them since I replaced them with some anniversary ram but with prices falling I may as well keep them and have 4 gigs :)
