EK FullCover for 8800

Won't all that copper be a bit heavy for a video card? What about the concept that concentrated gpu cooling is better? One school of thought is that full cover blocks is a no no (see MaxxRacer's comments). No opinion either way for me yet.

I see that the Voltage regulators are cooled via aluminum. (Yes I know its hypocritical of me to comment on weight and then gripe about aluminum ) Is the use of aluminum effective in taming the heat?

I am a whole lot less interested in appearances. In fact, I much rather have the Delrin version. My question is how well does this block work. If it works well, you are guaranteed my business for several SLI computers.

Oh, saw the DD disassembled at the other thread. Damn, what a difference in quality. EK you rock!

You always knew Eddy was going to make a tasty block for the 8800 series and after seeing the unusually poor insides of the DD effort this block owns tbh. After the ATI effort comes out in Feb and I decide which new card to get, it WILL be having an EK block on it :D.

Ok, just placed an order at Eddy's site for the 8800GTX block. When can I expect to see it here in Hawaii? :D

Why does the interior raised portion not need an O-ring like the DD versions. I would think the liquid would flow through the channel and maybe also between the plexiglass and raised part of copper in the middle.

The above picture does not show this is happening, but I am curious as to why?

This must be due to very precise engeneering, the plexi top is sitting on top of that raised part with enough pressure to not let any liqued go under i guess.

If things are 100% flat it will cause some sort of vacuum so the liquid cannot go there.

It works cause my FC79 does not have an O-ring in the raised center part either.

The flow loss is so minimal, there is no need for additional o-ring.
Especially because the block is not very restrictive.

For looks a inner O-ring could be a good idea... IMO it doesn't look that good having water in the middle section...
It looks a bit messy...

Especially when you use UV and some spots are glowing in there ramdomly...

I dont think so... Because the layer of water is so thin there will be no UV glow there ;)
