Yeah, I had an encoding program running at 100% (That's 100% on both cores) CPU usage for about 6-7 hours a few times and I also passed dual 32 million Super Pi calculations last night. Perhaps it doesn't like some of the files installed on my PC.

I don't have 3dmark06 nor do I have sufficient download quota to get it.

I like occt (single core - old version) because I could SET my memory used to use ALL my memory! (by constantly loading, then unloading memory up to the amt I specified.

I see NO setting to enter a SPECIFIC memory amt, thus limit the usefulness of this tool.
This is a very specific feature that I see missing,

Until I see this remedied, this is a non useful pgm.

Not really :/ It's actually the only way i can get the money back from what i invested in OCCT (hosting, graphics, and other stuff). End-users should not need this kind of stuff, or rarely... if they do, they probably don't need OCCT to see they've got a problem if they can't install windows ;)

In OCCT v0.91, you could set the memory used by it.

However, what OCCT was doing was using a random portion of that memory to run its test.

I disabled that feature because i'll include in 1.1.0 an algorithm that's gonna do a "memtest" like under windows, eating up all the available memory but the one that's already taken by windows.

It'll be included in the auto test as well.

OCCT is, as it stands and as it was in 0.91, a poor memory tester, as it only test the data stored for its algorithm, which isn't eating up the entire memory. It's poor compared to memtest :)

However, it's great at detecting transfer error caused by repeated memory transfers, chipset, and CPU errors. It's just really poor at detecting bad blocks in memory... and memtest is there for that :) It'll improve with 1.1.0, but still won't be that great IMHO. It'll be a nice addition mind you.

Just to make sure, OCCT is like testing a highway with a sports car : you'll see how well the road grips, you'll see how well your car performs, but if there's a hole in the road, you might as well completly miss it, because you didn't pass right on top of it. So you'll know if your road + car can stand rushing at that high speed, if your car is reliable, but not if the road is completly flawless (one rush is not enough : you need another test to do that, and inspect the road surface to get the hole).

I don't think i will, at least for now. It's the only way i can get enough money to fund OCCT ( i'm not even talking about making money, just getting a tad back of what i've invested over those 3 years i've bee on that project).

Plus, i don't think high-end users really need this version. If you can't install Windows XP on your computer, or boot windows, you don't need OCCT to know you've got a real problem in your hands :D It's only really useful for companies selling computers without any OS : it enable them to test them without leaving any trace on the hard disk.

oops sorry I did not see your post from before. I did not know that you were charging for the bootable version, sorry :(

it feals about as sensitive to error as Orthos give or take.

got through 1.5 mins of this and it crashed, i then restarted and increased my drive strengths same crashing of the program.

orthos hangs the system after 3 seconds at the same settings...

IMO i think its better for testing cpu stability moreso than chipset and RAM staqbility(my CPU was or atr the least should have been stable I gave it a .5V increase for 33mhz(4mhz FSB) over a 24/7 prime)

I just decreased my overclocked to 2.43GHz, I have a feeling it was the HTT causing the problems. I'm now at 22 minutes.
