I'm currently sitting at 1.5v and clocking in at 680. Can't think of any reason I'd get different results with this than that, but just curious. This one definitely looks like the better way to go about it than the other though. Other one looks more rigged. Comments?

i've done the 1.5V mod but it stays at 1.5V in 2D mode :shrug:
Hi, sorry to bring this back up, but this seemed to be the most relevant topic I found while searching. Today I recieved my evga 7950GT KO and I have already overclocked it to 610/1520 which appears to be the max for now, although that may change after it burns in a bit.
Anyways, I am aware of the hardmod for these cards to increase voltage, however since I am going to use evga's stepup program within 3 months to upgrade to a geforce 8, I don't have any intention of soldering anything or whatnot. However, the thread starter seems to imply that voltage can be adjusted simply by flashing to an edited BIOS. Can anyone confirm this?

gaara My 7950GT KO SC is at 700-1800 right now at 1.50v. This is with a Zalman copper cooler and some swiftech ramsinks. It is a good card and did 750 on water, but the voltage regulator craps out above 1.58v so there was probably more in it but couldn't get the juice.
I modded an 8800GTX last night and that is kind of a b*tch as the resistors on the GPU regulator are tiny and will fry really quick.
They are talking about changing the VID setting in the bios, but my KO SC's default VID was 1.45 (Performance 3D Mode) but actual voltage was 1.35 metered. So, first check your bios with NiBiTor and see what VID it has set under performance mode, if for some reason a lower VID is set it is possible that changing it to a higher VID will switch to that higher voltage level. The mod is about the easiest you can do and does not require soldering. I lock the VID out at the base 1.2v and use the mods for constant voltage as I have had issues with Nvidia's performance mode selection not functioning correctly (getting stuck in 2D mode).

Thanks for the fast reply. You have to forgive me for being a bit of a noob on the subject since I haven't used nibitor in quite a while and that was only limited to manually changing the "default" clock frequencies.
Anyways, I have it opened up, and under the voltage tab as you are probably aware there are two tabs, exact mode and VID mode (I presume I should be looking at VID mode since you mention it above). The following is currently set:
Under Exact Mode:
3D - set to 1.25v (option to set to 1.35v)
Thrtl - N/A
2D - set to 1.25v (option to set to 1.35v)
Under VID Mode:
Voltage 2 - Set to 1.35v (option to set to 1.25v, and two ?.?v which I presume are 1.45 and 1.55v)
Voltage 1 - Set to 1.25v (options are the same as above)
Currently I have stuck with the stock cooler that came with the card, however I have a Maze4 block and some monster ramsinks that I can use. If it comes to a point where I can get up to 700/1800 or around there like you, I might just scrap the stepup and put the watercooling on this sucker and keep it, the only reason I haven't yet is because it is a pain in the ass reattaching the stock heatsink (From my experience).

pull out your dmm and do some testing to see what you're at now. it's possible to use nibitor to change voltages but i'm not sure what range you can choose from. but as said, if you set to 1.2, you can do the mods as it applies to you.
