heck my Opteron 165(2.8+Ghz on stock voltage) system seemed a bit perkier than this c2d system. Might be harddrive performance though I came from a WD1500 raptor. but in the real world, while gaming and just day to day use, i dont' really see much diference.

and I was saying it was a viable option but not in all scenarios. If I had 6--$ to spend, I'd be leanign more towards x2 3800+ a 80$ board and some other midrange parts, not over the top, and a 250$ board. You have to realize, the total cost of ownership is not just the CPU, nor is performance.

I was speakign for the average user nothign wrong witht hat.

you realize that the average person isn't as stupid as us - they don't spend massive amounts of money for marignal speed boosts every 6 months.

That's what I've been doing for the past year. First got a A64, then X2, now conroe. In December, I'm gonna fill my box with a high end mobo, psu, put in an r600 when it's out and be done for the rest of college.

I think 3.2Ghz core2 duo overclock is bad, 3.5-3.6Ghz is ok and 3.8Ghz+ is awesome :) Air/water

Ofcourse I don't mean bad performance, already 3.2Ghz ownz :D

Good comparison, doubt you could tell the difference in everyday useage.

do we care about everyday usage nop we are not stocksystem or everyday system.org we care about very high oc benchs and benchs and benchs... and some about DC and benchs or gaming.....

for everyday use i have core duo laptop, for bench a kentsfield and for DC both LOL
