Damn, nice results. All MSI 7900GTO could be flashed to GTX? I have the possibility of purchasing one for 239€, and its a nice price to a GTX.
regards
Looks like the BIOS johnny posted helped a lot. :D I really think this is going to be my next gfx card now. 7900GTX performance for like twice as less $$$...
What's the temp like with the 7900GTX bios?
This card really looks to be what I've been looking for, not a too expensive but still very nicely performing card with lots of o/c potential. Those cards you didn't think existed. lol
I will order one pretty quick if I do as I sense a possible highered price on these cards or out of stock in matter of weeks tops or 1.1ns mem will be replaced with worse...
Nvidia is really aiming the BIG cannons at ATIs middlerange section atm. Who would win, maxed out X1900XT 256MB xfire or maxed out 7900GTO SLI? :D
the link you posted above is for flashing 7900gtx also? is there any danger when i flash the bios? my card is point of view
do you have a link with the original bios so if we flash the original with the new one, if the card is damaged not to loose the guarantee?
Very sweet!!!!
Thanks Coolaler.
I believe we lose warranty if we flash on this no??? Is this on any GTO? Or just MSI ones. I would believe it's on all present GTO's.
so coolaler, is the only thing you are getting by flashing the bios a jump in oc ability?
bring on some stock vs flashed sli scores! :woot:
What exactly gets changed in the bios?
Anyone running this baby on an Asus P5WD2 (Premium)? Please PM me! Help very much appreciated... :(
Windows does not load after a fresh install WITHOUT a boot CD in my drive. The screen stays black after the BIOS POST. After installing the Nvidia driver, Windows boots also without a boot CD in the drive BUT I can't see anything on the screen, even the F8 menu is not visible (LCD displays "frequency too high). WITH a boot CD in the drive Windows comes up normally. I can see the splash screen and the desktop, I can even play games.
try safe mode, if u can see that. Uninstall and use driver cleaner and then install nv drivers
I cant find this card on the MSI web site ????
anyone know what ns mem comes on the eVGAs?
some are saying 1.1 yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope I gt one, will post.
I will know in 2 hours or so...Quote:

yup, take off. make her naked!
I've been told on another forum that my motherboard has 8X SLI and since I am using an A64 3500, I will be wasting the entire second 7900 GTO, and will see no improvement in games over a single card in 1680x1050.
How disappointing.
That's a bunch of BS. 8x SLi will be just fine.
x16 sli is really no biggie. Not even worth paying extra for that kind of board.
Well, here is what was said, and we'll see what happens:

IMO youre cards are going to be starved with 8x SLI and a 3500+
You could have gotten the same framerates with one of those cards. Unless of course you are running very high resolution... which doesnt seem the case.

wow 1680... SLI is such overkill for that.
1 GTO properly overclocked or flashed to GTX will give you the same performance as 2 GTOs in SLI. Even if you run both overclocked as GTXs in SLI, the performance increase over 1 GTX at that resolution will be so minimal due to your CPU limitations.
While your still in time, cancel your order and get just 1 GTO and run it as GTX. If I were you, I would invest the saved 300 dollars in a new CPU. Maybe a 4200+ or a 4600+ s939. and ignore those people that say dual core does no improvement to games. You get great performance scaling with dual core. A good example is the source engine. With dual core you no longer suffer the "firefight" or "granade" lag effect, because the physics calculation load is evenly shared by the two cores, loading 50-60% each core instead of loading all onto one core and bottlenecking all the other traffic.
Plus oc your cpu to 2.6-2.8 ghz, and presto you have top of the line (FX 62) amd performance with a 7900 GTX.

Im just giving you advice.
What you have planned is not the most performing setup. I use 2 GTXs to play at 2560x1600. Your resolution is like a third of that. A better CPU will give you greater gains for gaming than SLI.
Actually people should make it a rule of thumb not to get 2 GPUs if they dont have 2 CPUs...
Though I guess we're on the wrong thread, sorry CLLR, I would be more concerned with 2 gb (1x1gb)of memory than an extra video card. (R u a gamer?) In SLI I dunno how much you psu can hold as well. The winnies, don't know 4 sure, do hog more wattage.
No thread hacks... :slapass: I love that smiley. Been feinding to use it.
:p:
What forum might this have been from?
Yeah, sorry for the hijack..I'll stop now...
The forum was anandtech.
I just got mine in and have everything hooked up. I get about 6200 in 3Dmark06 off one card @ 700/825, but when I go to SLI I only get about 8500 marks. I do not currently have an SLI bridge (mod'd my DFI Ultra-D), would this make the performance that bad by going to SLI? I think I should be getting in the 11-12k range. I'm also only getting 13k in 3d05 as well. Anyone have any ideas?
See below for my system specs, I also plan on getting a bridge just incase, but still want anyone's opinon on this! TIA
the memory voltage from the GTO is only 1.8 Volt.
the default voltage for the GTX memory is 2,1 Volt, right?
can some one upload the bios on megaupload.com? also, be more specific in the instructions how to flash the bios? (first time)
thanks
anyone know if ALL MSI 7900GTO come with 1.1ns ???
because if we search in google for MSI 7900GTO all of them apears to have 1.4ns however coolaler have one with 1.1ns .
