i think someone said 0507 works but i never tried that bios and don't feel like flashing back unless someone can confirm EIST functioning properly


also for anyone having sound crackling issues like i was experiencing it was actually just a matter of setting up the speakers as large speakers for me.........i have an old school amplifier and two 12-inch subwoofers under the desk :D heheheheh imagine the thunder with these when you're playing an action game..........i feel my chest vibrate (someone said it's bad for hard drives.............LOL i've used it for the last gizzilion years and never had a single issue :D)

EIST works fine with 0614, you just have to go into Power Management in control panel and set power scheme to "Minimal power management" instead of Home\Office.

I'm just worried about running 2400mhz at only 1.050v...seems dangerously undervolted for such a high speed :(

i ran prime on my first E6300 at 0.88v ~2.3GHz as that was my max RAM (had some piece of :banana::banana::banana::banana: ram heheh)

i'm sucha noob hehehe that worked..........minimal power management BUT the vcore stays put...........CPUz is reporting 1.050 but asus software is showing 1.26

Hehe :P I just don't want to randomly crash because of it. The sad part is my temperatures (according to Coretemp, anyway) don't go down :(

Did you try it yet? EIST has always worked, I believe. You just have to enable it in Windows. What I'm curious about now is the difference between EIST (Enhanced Intel Speedstep, right?) and C1E.

yeah i think C1E has something to do with TM(thermal monitoring or vcore part not 100% sure)

Yea, I just checked with PC Probe. It looks like that part doesn't work :( Probably because we aren't running at stock..

Obviously temps aren't going down because voltage doesn't drop... EIST is only working correctly at default/auto settings...

Well yes, it's obvious only after I ran PC Probe. CPU-Z shows the voltage drop from 1.36 to 1.050, so at first it looked like it was working.

It appears there's some kind of bug in EIST as it seems to make some kind of call to lower vcore that CPUZ recognizes but never really happens....

No improvements for me with 614 compared to 0507. Stops on exactly 450Fsb and it whont budge over it, tried jumping it to but no dice.

I don't know what's up with SpeedStep with this new bios...EVen at stock speed PC Probe isn't showing the voltage dropping, but all my otherr proggies are. My temperatures would say it's not kicking in anymore, even at stock speeds so for once I believe PC Probe.

It could also be CrystalCPU and RMClock have screwed the settings, not sure yet, going to have to uninstall everything...

Well either 0614 indeed messed up EIST, or CPU-Z can't read out the values correctly... in Rightmark you can see the CPU frequency go up and down depending on whether I use the pc or not.

For testing purposes I put all BIOS values back to standard (E6600 @ 9 x 266, all voltages on AUTO (except Vdimm:2.0V) and EIST/C1E enabled).

What worries me most is the huge difference in temp readings between Asus Probe and Rightmark, at times 25C! I'm running a stock Intel HSF now but my Arctic Freezer 7 Pro will arrive tomorrow. I guess I'll take out the entire motherboard to install the Freezer, I want to make sure with the ol' eyeballs that the HSF is seated correctly and firmly, instead of relying on my ears to hear some vague clicks from the HSF mount.

Question on the side: when overclocking, Orthos beta always shows FSB x standardCPUmultiplier. Meaning, an E6600 has a standard multiplier of 9 so Orthos will show CPU frequency as FSB x 9, no matter what multiplier I set in the BIOS. CPU-Z does show the right values then. Has anyone else noticed this before or is this also a 0614 quirk?

Rightmark has it wrong. I can assure you this is the case because my stock heat sink refused to sit right. At one point at stock running Everest's stress test I watched it throttle at 84c. As you know throttling has nothing to do with the motherboard, and I seriously doubt the diode is faulty.

On my computer Everest=PC Probe=CoreTemp=Intel Thernal Analysis give or take a degree or two because of the different refresh intervals.

Now with an Arctic 7 Freezer Pro I idle at 35-37c at stock speeds...load 44c or so..

sluzbenik: as I understand, RMClock does throttling by itself - its same approach to lower power consumption of the system while its in idle, as lowering multipliers.
