Check the burst rate with Nero CDSpeed (freeware, just google). If it is in proper DMA mode, this is what you should get ~25MB/s,

Solution: Deinstall the JMicron driver and use the standard Windows IDE-driver, while setting the JMicron to IDE in the BIOS, right?
i got 41 mb/s....
Hey all, I'm having this same problem. It's stuck in PIO mode. I never loaded any JMicron crap drivers, because my 2 SATA HDDs are on the Intel Matrix.
Any idears?

Stick with windows driver they work
I had the same issue with my P5B Dlx, E6600 and Samsung SH-W162Z DVD/RW drives.
Uninstalled the JMicron Raid Tool and the issue is gone now.
Burst rate showed 28mb/s as well.
