Conroe FAQ'S!!! Read this before posting

Why not try to *read* the forum?
Why not try the *search* function?
Why not try to find out things *yourself*?

Yes.. it may be difficult/confusing to find out which mb is best for whatever Conroe-model.
The answer is simple:
It is a matter of trial and error... a matter of *knowledge* on specific hardware/bios'es..
It is a matter of some luck with *your* specific hardware(CPU/Mb).
Also bear in mind that the mb's (and hence also bios'es) are fairly new to the market.. The same goes for CPU's.
Do *not* expect the same results as some extreme members are posting.. with mb's that are tweaked in every possible way..

@Intel/Conroe noobs:
*Pleeeze* try to follow the advice in this thread!
Many of us are very sick and tired of threads like:
"Help!! My board won't post!"
"Fu***ng gigabyte DS3 won't do FSB999 in first ever Intel OC-try!!"
..and such alike..

Great Thread/sticky Charloz24, it helps a lot for new users to find what they are looking for. I dont know why some(should i say many?) ppl just dont like to read, i guess they just come and post their questions without seeing the answer one line above their own thread lol.

This is really annoying... i used to find the insteresting(WR etc.) topics/thread with ease... but now i scroll down and i only see the same questions. Sh*t lazzy ppl.

PS: i guess this wont help with users that dont read (Even stickies).. there should be some kind of restrictions or penalties.

I won't argue the merrits of coretemp, but who is to say that it is way off? Use Intels Thermal Analysis Tool. It's there software they know how to take the temps of their chips.

Good to know CoreTemp is inaccurate. I just downloaded it and it says 68C for both cores on my 2.8ghz E6700! Speedfan says Temp1: 47C Temp2: 51C Temp3: 52C.
Sisoft sandra says board temp: 47C, cpu temp: 48.5C, power/aux temp: 50C.
Everest says Motherboard: 47C, Cpu Temp: 51C, but CPU Core #1: 66C and Core #2 66C, wtf?
I'm dual priming right now and coretemp scared the hell out of me at first and now everest has me a little worried. Is there anything out there that can provide good accurate measurements of the temperature? I'll probably end up buying a hardware monitoring device if not.

I'm currently on stock heatsink/fan, but I have a extreme spirit northbridge cooler, a silverstone 110cfm exhaust, and a couple no name fans on the bottom of the case blowing around 40cfm. I should have a Thermalright SI-128 HS with a silverstone fan coming in wednesday. But can anyone here help me determine what the correct temperatures should be? Does the bios lie? The bios seems to agree with sandra.

EDIT:
Intel's Thermal Analysis tool says 66C for both cores. Wouldnt my computer be unstable or at least give me some prime errors? The exhaust from the back of the case doesn't even feel warm.

I feel the same thing too. The temps are always different between applications even the BIOS.

I guess one of the easiest way is to get a thermal sensor and bump it in between the HSF and CPU?
