I've gamed with mine @ stock, 3.0 GHz, 3.3 GHz and 3.6GHz. 3.3 feels like the sweet spot, or I should say there are small real gains to 3.6 GHz. I'd highly recommend most folks looking for a pure gaming rig grab an E6400 and OC it for all it's worth.

I think you get better performance with a E67 OC vs E64 OC

E6300 7x480 , 500 ~ 3.4GHz
E6400 8x425 3.4GHz
E6600 9x399 3.6GHz
E6700 10x360 , 380 ~ 3.8GHz
X6800 was like 3.8GHz


and of course clock for clock E6700 > E6400, b/c of the extra 2MB L2 cache, but u cant really go much higher onclock speed than E6400 for that extra $300 ($550 - $250), so for that extra $300 u get 2MB L2 chache, maybe 300Mhz more on air, the performance difference u see in games in very small


conclusion: every conroe after OCed is "about the same", of course some is faster than others, but the difference is small

another thing: only idiots spend $3000+USD on dell / falcon / dellienware

second this. At high resolutions GPU is still the bottleneck.

you are talking overclock not performance which is a different story all together.
If you want better OC, sure get a E64
But if you want better performance get an E67 and overclock that.

Case in Point
E64 OC 2.88
E6400 OC 2.88

In both examples it took an E64 OC to 2.88 in order to be competitve with an E67 which is clocked at 2.66. In most cases the E64 OC 2.88 tied or beat the E67 by 0-5 FPS. This is the start of deminishing return for a lower mutli when trying to compensate for it with a higher FSB. It takes a higher clocked E64 to average or beat a E67 by meager fps. OC E64 @ 2.88 is not consistent at beating a E67 in all the benchmarks presented it. Regardless if it has more cache you also must factor in the larger mutli. Also note...which was the reason for creating this thread is that the E67 can be OC'd.

Is there anyone else out there with E67 OCing results?

My ES pulled off an even 4 GHz PCMark05 stable on my Prometeia Mach II.

Patriot pc8000XBLK 2.1 volts

The only thing I did was take the FSB to 350, the ram is running 4:5. 100% stable in games as well as my own duel core benchmark running superPI with rthdribl at the same time;)

If I figure out how to overclock like a real Xtreme member I think I could sqeeze more out:rolleyes:

One other thing, if cpuz says memory is 438mhz does that mean it is actually running twice that? 876mhz?

If your at 350 FSB and ram at 4:5.....take 350 / 4 = 87.5 then 87.5 x 5 = 437.5 then 437.5 x 2 = 875 MHz. So yes, twice that.

Anyone complete some PCmarks or AquaMarks along with you:

It amazing that this CPU needs a good heaping of Vcore in order to have a stable OC.
For example to go from 266 to 300 requires a vcore of 1.3875V for me. To go from 266 to 310FSB requires at least a Vcore 1.4000V. This is nothing like overclocking my old Intel 660. Vcore set by Intel is 0.850V-1.325V (assuming at stock clock). Big vcore bump for just a small OC.

Yes Seems right ... I have to raise Vcore 1.51 to get stability @3.5 ghz under prime :)

When I have time I try higher settings ( 3.55/3.6ghz) but I reached my goal for 3.5 ghz stable for 7/24 daily use ( temps idle CPU 40° Mobo 39°)

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I can't get AM3 to work. I keep erroring out at the end. Also, when I applied that .dll, AM3 turns all red for me.

Eastcoasthandle I had same issues at first then I reinstalled Aqua and so there it is ...

The error is due to the ATi drivers, try some other ones.
