Feedback for what DS3 Compatible RAM

well i appreciate the feedback guys and I still haven't ordered. I would rather get teamgroup ram as its better bang for the buck than corsair (imo).

Can anyone confirm what memory works at boot, maybe provide a link? I do not want to have to go and buy a cheap DDR2 kit of stock 1.8v in order to get higher volt ram to work in the DS3. Like I said, I really appreciate all the help for a newbie building his first power rig.

Does TankGuys Kit 800 work in the DS3? I had read Ben say that this is your ticket for the DS3 on their forums...but has anyone tried it? I was all ready to order this or the 667 ram but than Lestat had reported that teamGroup ram would not work. Has this been verified?
EDIT: aldaman, would you reccomend the 667 team ram over the 800? Are they both going to work?

I gotta order today...ASAP, help me find that perfect 2GB kit for the DS3! Thanks guys once again.

the 3-3-3 MIGHT be different i have no idea. its the same ram same IC's so i think it will work if the 3-4-4 works.

lol, I got a kit before they were sold out.. D9GMH for $187 :banana:. Anyways its not that they charge more for the same stuff... It was because they have some sort of policy (suggested by OPB?) where when they release a price they stick to that price till they run out. (vs. other online retailers who jack up the price till they run out/based on demand)

So technically they were selling high quality D9 chips for a really good deal/low price, $187 vs $250-260 like other brand names. But I guess they couldn't keep doing that so they released a tighter timings version (same stuff) for a higher price. But note that the price will stay the same through out of stock / high demands.

I have modified my original post a bit to address some of your questions. I have the original DDR2-667 3-4-4-8 stuff that's now "sold out" which really means they've put a different sticker on the same RAM and are charging more for it now. LOL. All of the sticks have the same chips. Mine didn't come with heatspreaders so it's very easy to see the Micron D9GMH chips.

I'm at DDR2-884 speeds right now (1:1) @ 4-4-4-12 at 2V (+0.2 set in the DS3 BIOS). Even though I haven't tried tighter timings, I'm sure there is some flexibility there. Higher speeds should not be a problem with my current timings:

Hey guys have you seen this? If i set anything over +.3 vdimm i get this error on the pchealth menu of the BIOS and 9 times out of 10 my system reboots back to default clocks.

I'm using the G.Skill HZ and am stuck at 425fsb. I thought this RAM could handle high then that

Yes, I have seen that so I stick with +0.2 with my Team Group RAM. My system becomes unstable with anything higher too. Luckily +0.2 is enough for my RAM.

Get the cheapest Team Group set. It's all the same.

If you're feeling adventurous, you also could order two of the 1GB 3-4-4-8 sets and fill all four slots. You'd save $50. I don't think anybody has had the balls to try this yet :)

Alright Guys im just gonna order the 2GB 667 Team kit it would seem...50$ extra for the 800 doesn't seem worth it from what I understand and this 667 should work fine on first boot with DS3?

I don't know how many more ways I can say it works. You're buying DDR2-667 RAM and booting speeds are only DDR2-533. That's childs play for these sticks, even at 1.8V.

does any1 know forsure, if corsair pc6400C4 ram is compatible with the DS3?

because it shows that it requires 2.1. If it boots at lower, is it recommended to boost up the voltage settings to 2.1?

btw those the memory problem is Gigabyte related or 965P related ?

the problem is just a combination of THIS baord and THAT ram.
some ram work ,, some ram dont.

the 965 chipset isnt the issue. but there are other issues with the 965 chipset im not even going into right now

So I have the OCZ PC2-6400 Platinums running fine with a celeron. Do you think when I switch to e6400 this same memory will give me problems?

just raise voltage to 2,1V(i think ocz platinum needs this ?) BEFORE you inside conroe and all is good.

Gskill still doesnt boot with the latest beta bios.

and it still doesnt boot until you manually set 2.2v which falls out of the ram's specified voltages. (manually setting by swapping ram)
its required to use more than the ram is even spec'd for.

AB9 has problems with memory also

My e6400 came today and I have everything now except the ram...the 240pin teamgroup 667 should be coming in a few days I hope and it better start up okay...I have no other 240pin ram, only some 180pin layin around...

hopefully all goes well :) I am so excited to complete the build and get the software aspects of the pc up and running. I have to wait two days for ram!

just set the ram at 2.1V and 1:1 before swapping the cpu.
So it will have 2.1V running at DDR667 instead of 1.8V at DDR800.

It comes from Team Group at San Jose, CA. So if you're near that area or put in good shipping it will come soon. For me I put in FedEx home delivery but I live in the east coast (florida) so including the weekends it came in about 7 days. But thats what I expected for picking that S&H :P.

Too bad the team group stuff sold out for $187. That was an awesome deal and I was going to get that when I moved up to a 2 GB kit. Hopefully ICs will get better in the future (they will ) and they offer another bargain with some good stuff.

im on the east coast too...but i got fed ex 2 day overnight, so hopefully it will be hear on saturday...im helpless without my ram lol got everything but it!

They are CL5 and 1.8v, so they should boot up correctly. At least i hope so.

Good luck ClockCatcher. An 8x multi is a little low for DDR2-667 ValueRAM CL5, but I think you've got some balls to try.
