benny, still no news on new bios for DS4? :(
Thanks for the bios Benny. :toast:
Does this solve the issue of no boot at over +0.3vmch and 1.6vcore? I'll test this bios out later today hopefully.
I'm looking for the DS4 BIOS aswell, gigabyte support have not been very helpful . Here is the conversation I had with their support :
Q: Board will not post with OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Special Ops Edition RAM 2x 1GB. Tried standard Samsung PC3200 DDR2 RAM 2x 256 and board post's fine and am able to get into BIOS.
Is this RAM compatible or is there a BIOS fix?
A: These modules are not supported as the voltage required range from 2.0v to 2.2v, standard DDR2 voltage is 1.8v. Try increasing a little DIMM voltage.
Q: There are several threads on the www.xtremesystems.com forums with various people having problems with the gigabyte DS3, DS4 and DQ6 boards. The problem is something to do with DDR2 800 Ram. The board always tries to set the CAS to 3 and ignores the SPD of the RAM. As this ram cannot work at CAS3 the system will not post.
e.g. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&highlight=ds4
A: Please use bootable memory and go in to BIOS and try upping the DIMM voltage.
It seems the support guy I was speaking to has no idea of the problems going on!
Benny, you're a star!...keep up the good work.
so sad. looks like DS4 is only a stepson of the gigabyte family :(
can update WHITOUT floppy?
If the board is booting at cas3 i can change the bios to force cas4 at boot, the issue is you will need to boot twice so the board can try to use CMOS settings.
Also if you have an 533 fsb cpu they don't seem to like ddr800 memory...must be a strap issue so try and stay with 667 and lower latency.
Let me know if you me to tweak a bios, you will need to forward the exact bios you want me too look at
how can change latencies in bios?
or push the vdimm up?
thanks
p.d i can't update whit a old floppy , any sytems to update bios?
thanks
Is anyone else finding that when they save and exit the bios you get a full shutdown before it starts up again?
+0.3vmch and above still means no boot once you save it, however if you save then shut it down after the failed boot and boot up again it seems to work ok.
Still no luck for me trying to get past the 370-380 FSB even with the f3d bios.
When updating the bios, am I supposed to update both roms with the same bios or can the backup simply have a copy of the original bios that the motherboard was shipped with?
