Push, suck, same thing, i'm saying that i'm not convinced that pushing/sucking air through the heatsink is as effective as having the fan right on the heatsink directly over the core.Quote:

I don't care about performance results as I know it has to be better than the current X1900 cards. What does spark my curiosity is HEAT. How are the temps with this new cooler over the current stock cooler? NOISE is another big issue, I am loving the lack of noise from my X2. If this new cooler can at least match the noise output and offer me slightly better cooling (X2 blows air in case/new cooler takes it out) than my X2.

very impressive :toast:
jest wonder, is jest me or any one else see some THERMALTAKE designing ?
Let's all pray to god that this isn't the case... :rolleyes:Quote:

check the difference (on the right) with this pic from guru3d

Hmm...450 bucks.. Might just get this to tide me over for a year or two!!
I'd like to see a X1950GT@250$ :fact:
So where are the tests???
When is this supposed to be out..I'm hearing the 7th of August and also the 23rd-27th of August??
oooh sexy
btw what cpu cooler is that? looks like a launchsite lol

Gigabyte or TT , looking at the shape
its a gigabyte, called a 3D aurour or something I think...
Ed.
Its Gigabyte Rocket cooler ;)
Well, there isn't much heatsink right above the core. The air goes to the sides and cools the fins that are around the heatpipes in the cooler. So basicly it the same as the ATI cooler, but just with 2X half the air resistance from the fins instead of 1 bigger resistance. Actually, it is 2 times a quarter of the air restistance as air resistance becomes 4 times bigger if the air passing a surface moves two times as fast. For this I don't know the right Enlish word, but this a rather big advantage for the Nvidia cooler.Quote:

You could place a fan on the heatsink right above the core, but if it only has one side to blow the air to after it has gone through the fins, the effect is the same and actually a little worse than the centrifusal fan ATI uses. This is because the centrifusal design ATI uses provides a much bigger head pressure.
same design just more "aerodinamic"Quote:

Yes but nearley dubble size heatsink it goes all the way to the end of the card
The cooler looks really good. One thing I liked about X1900 cooler though is the placement of the fan under the shroud. Not optimized for low noise but good for performence in Crossfire since the front card won't stop the airflow.7950GX2 should learn from that. The card that connects to the PCI-E gets really hot as it is now.
Looking forward to testing this card when it is available. More mem bandwidth in Crossfire will do wonders for performence.
they have the card already 1 day ...
and yet no 3dmark05 score :(
13K stock my friends with FX62 at 3.0ghz ;)
Who gives a :banana::banana::banana: how it looks?. it needs to cool properly.Quote:
