Doesn't XP allow you to allocate IRQ manually?
Looks like only in plug and play modes.
news? the problem is resolved?
i've to buy this mobo....with 2*74Gb Raptor in Raid 0 mode....
but this problem seriously worry me....
i wouldn't be too concerned about IRQ "issue".....i've seen other motherboards stack up even more devices than that
PIO mode.....interesting observation.........i'll check that out on monday when i get HZ sticks....rig down atm :(
no the problem is not solved.
the work around is to NOT use RAID.
or
use a SATA dvd burner.
i contacted gigabyte and filled out the form to submit for issues and am waiting to hear back from them.
i will let you all know when i hear back
oh i didn't enable raid yet..........so wouldn't come up but i do have a couple of drives i use in Raid1 which i'll need to start using......hope they fix this
ditto. I don't use raid and don't have a sata burnerQuote:

what's PCI tv tuner doing to your PC? i'm using a PCI and a USB tuner.....not yet installed until i'm happy with testing of course heh
Has someone killed DVD already?
I can confirm PIO issue and run some raid tests:

I am curious as to what power management you are using.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...e/computer.jpg
ACPI is the ONLY power management that will allow you to load your pc.
ihave tried several using the F5 option during XP load, and also by changing the computer type to others while in windows. none work.
ive seen other pile up a few devices on IRQ's but not like this fellas, this board really throws the smack down on 16 and 19.
and DO NOT! use HD Tach that tool is the most lie'ing worthless hd tool i have ever seen i mean it will report your hard drives as running at 10x's the speed they are possible of.
and im not confusing megabits and megabytes. the program as you can see up the screen shot up above its WAY wrong.
i stopped using it about 2 years ago.
try unknown device identifier, it's a bit more accurate then what XP uses. See if there are some devices being used that is not reported by XP device manager.
link
if XP cant find a driver it will tell you by putting a splat on the device.
if you also use the show hidden devices under device manager,,,
anywho.. there isnt anything hidden or not installed.
its a matter, as ive stated, that the bios isnt handling the IRQ's properly.
and the JMicron gigabyte SATA/Raid driver is forcing the IDE port into PIO mode.
this MIGHT be able to be fixed but since Intel removed ATAPI support from the 965 and 975 chipsets.... i dont know maybe they cant fix it.
i dont recall this happening with my P5WDH2-E Premium though.. so i dont know.
Hope it can be fixed, I just ordered one of these mobos since it gave pretty good performance but now this problem popped out.
I URGE EVERYONG WHO HAS THIS ISSUE TO GO TO THE FOLLOWING LINK AND SUBMIT AN ISSUE REPORT!
JUST HAVING ME DO IT DOESNT PROVE ANYTHING TO GIGABYTE ALL THEY ARE GOING TO DO IS BLAME MY HARDWARE
EVERYONE WITH THIS ISSUE PLEASE FILL OUT THE TECHNICAL REPORT! ASAP.
http://www.giga-byte.com/Support/ServiceCenter.aspx
I agree, please report issues to Gigabyte...harrase them into addressing the problems and issue bios updates.

I am currently not running this board in raid though. I also wanted to ask you have you had IE close on you unexpectedly sometimes or explorer errors too. I tried the raid install last weekend but had too many errors & went back to regular SATA IDE mode.
I am also having cold boot issues but I think the power supply is at the heart of it as on a cold boot my 12v line will draw 10.9 to 11.2 volts but after I get into windows & the system is warmed up I get a steady 11.9 on the 12V rail even on a warm boot. I can OC this chip to 3.8 but on a cold boot or stock it resets the bios.
I still don't have the motherboard but i am going to have it soon. I am not going to run raid for now but in future i will so if someone can post me some words describing this raid issue i will go and post the problem to gigabyte.
I agree 100% with LESTAT if he only or few people report this issue, gigabyte will not give a damn F.. to the problem so we have to bombard them with the same issue.
:toast:
thx
I just ordered 2 of these for my SAMUSUNG DVD burners - they run in UDMA fine I guess...

I should be able to run RAID0 Raptor goodness on my DS3 without issues now :)
