i'd do them but one thing keeps coming to mind and that was the pencil mod for the P5Wdh2-E Prem. it limited my vcore to 1.5v
anyone tried the pencil mod to know if this limits your vcore to a certain amount? i cant do it if thats what happens. this baord already has enough voltage limits.
vmch pencil mod works, I did not see gains though, at least not yet, max on air 497 1.4-1.6vmch, under vapo 518 1.6vmch (this was minimum vmch after mod) - 1.8vmch
And note that if your FSB is overclocked Normal voltage = +.3V, so after pencil mod I had
Normal = 1.8V
+.1 = 1.6V
+.2 = 1.7V
+.3 = 1.8V
Vdimm somehow did not work, might give another try.
518 might be RAM limit although corsair D9 should do more at 2.4V and relaxed timings
normal vmch +3 is only 1.5v so you got a pretty big increase. considering its only a pencil mod.
i dont like pencil mods though
they arent stable, droop and fluctuations are still an issue
and as for vcore pencil mods those tend to be... well.. iffy.
i want to do the core droop mod but looking closely at the motheboard with a very small close up lense shows that there is already a resistor there.
i do not quite see how bpassing the resistor by solding over it will help droop/
kiwi you know more about this than i do.
can you provide any input into the vcore droop mod.

I'm on stock mch and using +0.3v doesn't gain anything
Yeah, there is 2K resistor but I haven't tried mod yet. I have 0.02V drop at load. Shamino noted 0.05V drop which sounds quite a lot :eek:

goes up like .3 in the case of my old Asus 955X.
after some tests, i'm not limited by the Vcore.
In fact i just need 1.45V to bench 1M @ 4500Mhz, i just need FSB, i think it's cpu related :/

When i read the vmch point i get 1.35v and it doesn't change when i up to +.3v in the bios. What could be causing this?

This has been resolved. I shorted teh cmos taking the reading and for some reason mch wouldn't move after that. Loading optimized defaults fixed it. It now reads correctlly
Has Anyone had any luck with finding the VFSB mod?

wth does vFSB do anyways ? the NB controls the fsb and memory so why have mch (northbridge) and vFSB ?
so far the vFSB setting does absolutely nothing to improve overclocks from everything that has been tested thus far.
are you onto something that maybe we havent seen ?
also what would haven if i soldered, lets say a oh i dont know a 20k or 50k resistor without the POT. just tie in the little resistor ?
would that just fry it ? or would it overvolt it incredibly high because you adjust it ?
anyone thought about adding the missing CAP's to this board.
there are 2 caps missing right beside the vcore measure point. they both read vcore so...
there are also a few others missing around the place.
not sure if it would help but more caps definately isnt going to hurt.
persivore are you sure is pins 14(fb) and 16(vdiff) that need to be shorted/put a vr? I tried the vdroop mod on ds4(dont really need it, just for fun) it has ISL6307(6 phase) and the pins are 15(fb) and 17(vdimm). When I short them the mobo didn't start. It seems pins 15(fb) and 16(idroop) are connected on ds4 by the way.Quote:

Looks like my board has some issues, I wondered why I couldn't get any more fsb by raising VGMCH in bios (it was actually lowering it!).
Bios is F4, I've cleared cmos and loaded optimised settings and readings are still the same although I did notice before clearing bios the voltage used to fluctuate during startup.
The other wierd thing is if I remove the ground for the mod my voltages go real low:
Stock = 0.82v ???
+0.1v = 0.65v
+0.2v = 0.74v
+0.3v = 0.82v
The only thing I can think of is I had a real problem soldering the wire to the read point and could I have overheated/damaged the 3pin chip? Got it first time with the 8pin chip, best job I had ever done :D
Also it wont boot past 1.55v VGMCH
E6600, 4x1gb G.skill HZ, 120mm fan over zalman nbf47 northbridge cooler, testing with stock HSF. Max stock FSB boot at 365, after zalman + fan + 1.55v 410-420 fsb. Hardly worth fitting my vapo at this rate :( Only bought this mobo while I wait for the RD600! I had to get a conroe NOW!
any suggestions to whats up? or have I fubared my mobo within 24hours :D
