Killer pricing. I'm looking at the 4200+. My mobo needs the 11X for a chance for 3ghz.

So, I guess I'm the only one who thinks prices won't go down til like the beginning of august? The x2 3800 was supposed to be $277 on the 15th, newegg stil has it at $297.

Yeah I saw that, but I think the cuts will start on the 24th.

but my question is: will the prices stay like that? or will they start to draw them back up so a top end chip liek a 5000+ will be over $500 etc again come january 2007?

Not going to happen, with new tech like Quad cores now set to go retail around Christmas...these price cuts are going to only get better.

yeah, with quad cores comming out, AMD had to really cut prices. Quad cores are going to be the :banana::banana::banana::banana: when they come out, We will probably see a range of quad cores, 1.8ghz to hell 3 ghz maybe. no one will buy a quad core at the low end of the market for 800 dollars, high end at 1800 dollars. I think we will start to see low end quad cores running at about 500 dollars.

I wont want to pay more then $1200 for a processor, but I think that they wont be that much more expenisve as current dual cores on release.

Well you see that the 5000+ is going for 280'ish, Quad cores, are probably going to be like 6000+'s or something, I think when they first come out, they will be in the 500's

Wow... that changes everything. And I was thinking of getting a conroe... and AMD was done for. Now AMD is the better choice. Mostly because of the X2 3500+ EE's. So much energy savings... Ooooo. Looks like thats in my future. Dual core is all that matters.

Sweet. This is more like the old days when AMD was a lot cheaper and almost as good as Intel. Who'da thunk it? Yep, I'm buying a Conroe... but I might go for an x2 3800 AM2 as well, seeing as I have the DDR2 for it. We win. :D

Im going directly for the AM2 5000+ EE, hold onto it for awhile until K8L comes out, then get K8L, or maybe even try out the first quad core. Im not sure.

but! I cant wait to get it.
